I know it’s horrible for everyone whose interview/biometrics/oath ceremony got cancelled due to all USCIS offices closing temporarily and I feel for you.

But I think this might speed up processing of applications because more officers are assigned to applications since they can’t conduct interviews so it frees them up to work on cases.

Anyone else agree or am I just trying too hard to find a silver lining? 😭😂

Had the same thought yesterday and it made me happy for a while till I remembered that I'm in line waiting for a interview appointment and that getting one will take longer now...

And so the cookie crumbles ( free translation of a german quote) 😂😂

Yes, our local office was just closed to so I’m awaiting a new date for interview.
We have our EAD and honestly I’d rather error on the side of caution in terms of any gatherings for now.
Hoping all of you get your EAD approvals quickly. 🙏!

Those should be moving along I would think since “in person” is not required. 🤞
Stay safe and good luck to all of you 🎊🎈

It might be possible no one really knows, but it is what makes most sense. I am telling you when I was there on Monday the officers were all given laptops to take home, so they can process things remotely. How they will process things and their timelines is to be seen. I also went to the court on Monday and window filed some things, but now they are officially closed to even window file. Which makes sense I was stuck there with a few people on Monday, more so than a half full giant waiting room.

At offices I doubt they want to get so backlogged, so the only thing like they can seem to do at the moment is to process cases minus the human interaction parts to it. Hopefully we see a more lenient interview waiver. It is not unheard of. A lot of petitions from children to older parents get their interviews waived. Of course, I believe the potential of fraud there is much less prevalent than says a spousal adjustment, but I hope if cases have enough evidence they will consider interview waivers if they seem simple enough. However, no one can tell you with certainty what the plan is because things seems to change daily. I am telling you on Monday the officers were unsure of what was going to happen and I am sure they heard the same time we did.

How long will it take for the “Case is ready to be scheduled for interview” to “case interview date scheduled”?

Totally depends on your local field office.

Must be haha that's funny.

So the applicant is the US citizen right? Because it says applicants BC is needed which makes sense as I am sure I put mine in. I thought we didn't need to if we added a copy of his passport.

We're doing it now to send too. Is yours going to Missouri?

Hi! Did you send your RFIE evidence already? My status just changed today to "Response to USCIS Request for Evidence was received."

For what it's worth, at least we're all in this together!

Also, we say "And so the cookie crumbles" in English too! Although it is a bit of an old-fashioned expression

I love your optimism. So important during time like this with all that is going on. This whole process is stressful enough - then add all the COVID chaos on top of it. And you’re right - we are all in it together.

I feel like we have a very positive and supportive cohort here. Shoutout to all of you for creating such a great space - sometimes VJ can be unhelpful and mean in their tone so I love how kind everyone is in this thread.

sidenote: my job’s start date got pushed back to April 13th and even that is tentative. It’s so hard because I put in my 2 weeks on 2/28, when everything was still okay and a week later the cookie crumbled so to say 😭

i am thankful that I still have a job waiting and I wasn’t laid off, but it is still tough not to have a job currently.

Oh no. That's really unfortunate, I'm sorry. Hope it won't get pushed back any further. That's not the yellow from the egg ( another German one 😉 )

Haha I love these German sayings! What does it mean?

i hope it doesn’t get pushed back more too. We are in Seattle though, the worst hit. But on the bright side we will also hopefully be the first to recover due to the strict shutdowns.

How is it where you are? Is everyone working from home? Resturaunts shut down?

Nope, no update on EAD yet! Just looking forward to a few months from now hopefully when this zero income will turn to dual income! I am very lucky to have a supportive family thankfully to get through this tough time.

but still sucks because my career is a personal thing you know? Besides the money aspect its still my career

I understand that on a personal level. Absolutely. How are you able to work without the EAD
