Yeah just took a few days and I resent the next day.

Do you know the reason for the rejection?

No idea but on reviewing my scanned copy of the entire application,  i missed the bio page of passport. Silly me . will know the reason once i get the paper copy. The guy at the 1-800- number didnt give me the details even though he has the reason. he said its minor and i just have to resend it back with the missing doc.

That's strange that they didn't givea reason, usually says it in the status check page too.

Since you only sent 485 I guess they could send the whole packet back so just have what is missing ready and send it back asap...

I submitted other applications so they only sent me the I-131 itself and kept all supporting documents.

Applying in the married name will end up in probably not getting a SSN because Homeland has nothing to match the information with. That's why you should do it before getting married.

Edit: the name thing is obviously mostly a problem for females, not so often for males

I think its better to wait to apply until after marriage, so no need to go back and change the name. My wife applied for her SSN after we were married and no problems getting it. Received it in about 4 weeks. She entered the US 11/13/19, married 11/25/19, applied for SSN 12/10/19, and received the card in the mail 01/08/2020.

Or maybe the lady at my home SS office knew what she was doing ;) She said no problems doing it that way and we just need to wait an extra week or 2 for the card because they have to match her with her new name. and of course we had to give them a copy of our marriage license.

This is NOT the norm, you got lucky, some SSA clerks will do it but most will not best to apply before marriage in the maiden name. You were extremely lucky.

I agree here...   once married and the K1 admission period is up, the SS is not to be issued initially until Work Authorization or Green Card is approved, whichever is first.    SS card needs to be requested 14 days after arrival for best results.

My wife applied her SSN after marriage and received the card 2 weeks later. I think it depends on the SS officer? The officer that processed the SSN was accommodating.
