Hey guys I just came back from our greencard interview in Honolulu!

There was next to no wait, we pretty much got called in right away. The immigration officer was really laid back and friendly but as soon as the interview started the mood shifted and it got SERIOUS haha- I mean it’s her job, and she’s good at it 😄 We went through the form, she added some notes and after that she just asked us questions about how we met, how our relationship progressed, what our married life is like and what our plans for the future are. She didn’t ask any of the investigative “color of the toothbrush” questions at all and I think it would have been breezy but then my husband decided to say that he used his savings to pay for rent during covid which opened up a whole different thing about why he had to do that and what his job situation is haha so yea I was REALLY glad that I brought evidence of the new job and could proof that we still meet the income requirements. Again, she would have not even asked that under normal circumstances but hey, happens 😂. She asked if we wanted to show some other stuff and I gave her what we brought including a 5 page document with photos and Instagram posts, that’s when she turned into the pre-interview laid back person again (our baby is REALLY cute haha she couldn’t resist an “awwwww”).
She said that we’re approved unless there’d be something missing in the application, in which case we would get an RFE in the mail. I assume they’re required to say that, so I’ll just sit back and wait for my status to change to approved.
I’ll go take a nap now and celebrate the end of paperwork madness for a while 🤩

So happy for you!!! Congratulations on your approval!  How long was your interview? Our interview is finally scheduled as well (honolulu) to November 13, 2020!

Oohhh congrats, that’s awesome!! Happy for you guys 😊🙏 Our’s was about 30 minutes I think- we got there at 7.45, checked in at 8, met the officer at 8.15, interview started 8.20 and we were back in the car at 9. Pretty quick I’d say!

Yeah congratulations 🥳🥳🥳 and that's why I wouldn't be mad to do my interview alone while Cody is deployed. He loves to talk and tell stories 😂😂😂

congratulations!! So pleased for you guys!!
I hope you don't get an RFE and your case updates very soon to approved and green card being processed. 🙂

My husband did a similar thing in our interview last month (although we were interviewed separately due to COVID) and when he told me afterwards what he said from nerves about his weird work situation and our weird living arrangement, I couldn't help but laugh that he didn't follow the ’give minimal information and don't over share’ advice that we had been given a thousand times!! 🙄

Keep us posted on the next stages for you from here. What a relief to be all done for 2 years! 🙂

Adjusting from K1. I didn't submit the i693 when I filed the i485, just a copy of the DS-3025. Filed i485 in January. My interview is next month.

K Visa's: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon.'

  • The medical examination did not reveal a Class A medical condition; or

  • The applicant received a conditional waiver in conjunction with the K or V nonimmigrant visa or the change of status to V and the applicant submits evidence of compliance with the waiver terms and conditions.

Hey guys!

I'm so confused about USCIS website and app. Last time I checked their website our application was updated to "Interview was scheduled" even if on the app was still "ready to be scheduled"... then we got our notice with our interview date... Today I check the website just to see if the date was updated and it's back to "ready to be scheduled'!

So anyways just to let you know that sometimes it's just confusing and maybe we shouldn't trust too much the system 🙂

Hi guys!

So an update from me:

I phoned USCIS on October 19th for a request for an update for what's happening with my case as we haven't heard anything since my GC interview on September 10th when they told me that my medical exam was lost/missing from my file and they would try to find it for me.
I asked to speak with a tier 2 advisor and was told they would call me back within 10 days. I got that phone call this morning and was told that they are sending an RFE in the mail.

At first he wouldn't tell me what it was for but I said please can you at least say what's being asked for so I can prepare. He seemed extremely reluctant but eventually told me it's a request for a copy of my overseas medical exam and form I-693 and if I don't get it in the mail within 2 weeks to phone them.  He wouldn't answer any follow up.quesrions I had, saying he can't see my file.  He did mention that the deadline for my RFE was November 28th but due to COVID, I could have 60 days, if needed.

I don't really understand what I need to do next from here. It's sounding to me like I will need to get a new medical exam done because I don't know how else I would get hold of those forms. I gave them into the port of entry in the sealed envelope when I arrived here in December 2019. I am very frustrated because obviously I paid for one and have done all this already. Plus if my case was supposed to be interviewed in April (cancelled due to COVID), why wasn't this noticed before? I could have sorted this out a long time ago. 😔 I tried to be patient and give it a couple of months because they may have found it like what has happened for other people on here & I thought in the grand scheme of things I would rather not have to shell out money for something that may be found. Things are extremely tight here due to COVID related impacted on my husbands work.

We did hire an attorney (pre-paid as it was a package after K1) for this process just because our living and work circumstances aren't the most straight forward and I also had a juvenile criminal record that I was concerned about, so I have asked my attorney for advice and will update with what the plan is for anyone who is interested or may find themselves in a similar situation in the future.

Hope everyone gets good news this week and your greencards arrive safely in the mail soon for those who were approved!! 🙂

Got my RFE letter in the mail today which was a surprise! from what the guy said about contacting if nothing shows up in 2 weeks, I thought it may take a while.

It says I have by November 28th to respond & send in the medical documents or they will deny my case. It also says if anything is missing that they will review based only on what is submitted and anything submitted afterwards will NOT be taken into consideration.

On a positive note, it does say that due to COVID, RFE’s are given an EXTRA 60 days to respond to. So I am hopeful that if I come into anymore delays (🤞🏽 This won’t be the case!) that at least I won’t receive an outright no/denial at the end of November. That sure wouldn’t be a nice way to celebrate almost a year of being married & living in America. 🙂

I have contacted my attorney and asked what the plan needs to be now. I want to be proactive about it and take more control back because whilst they have been fantastic help & I don’t regret my decision to use their services at all... I realised earlier this year that I can do this by myself now and won’t need to use them in future because I am past the hurdles of worrying about past criminal records and unordinary work & living circumstances with my husband.

This resource has been a fantastic help in boosting my confidence with that decision to file for ROC and onwards by myself. & I have a fantastic resource for anyone who does need attorneys help. The woman I used immigrated here from Russia herself many moons ago and has a specialised practice local to me. The paralegal is also an immigrant from Belarus and it’s nice to speak to people who personally, ‘get it!’ As this journey isn’t always the easiest in terms of the impact on mental health and marriages. 🙂

Anyway, that’s my long winded ‘Meg’s Ted Talk’ message over ...

If anyone has any advice for me on what I should do from here, I would love to hear either publicly or privately. 🙂
