I guess i should ask my doctor to bump up my lexapro dosage. I dont have an issue and i hope i wont have any when i try coming back. Im just anxious

if they wont allow me back. I dont see why they wouldnt, because i read online the only reason they would deny entry if you committed a crime or abandoned your LPR status, right?

Over thinking. Over reacting. Breathe.
I have held  LPR status for the past 3 1/2 years. I have travelled internationally more than 15 times in that period .. I was away for periods as long as 2 months on one trip .. others have been from 1-4 weeks. I have parents in Australia with significant health issues and I travel to see them 4 times a year ., I have never had any issue at all on my return to the US.  Enjoy the conference

This is the kind of reassurance ive been hoping for, thanks! I guess i need to calm down and quit imagining they would deny me for no reason.

Should be no worries. My wife still just has her AP/EAD card, and we have left the country 4 times in the past 4 months for 3-7 days on 3 of the trips, one time for a whole month, and she isn't even a permanent resident yet and had no issues any of the times. You have a green card and are a LPR, Definitely no issues. She came in with just AP, not even a green card.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

CBP does not deny people just because they feel like it. So don’t worry. I’ve traveled to the United States multiple times on an ESTA, which gave me absolutely 0 rights.

You have LPR status, as long as you are crime free, you won’t have any real issues. Be honest, be truthful, and you will get through CBP no problem. It’s just clearly a lot of overthinking on your end, and I get that cause I did it too when I had my ESTA. I always feared denial, but then I realized why would I be denied? I am truthful and I have proof of ties to my home country.
As an LPR you only need to be truthful cause the US is your home country.

Hello all,

This is my first time posting here.

I've been a permanent resident for roughly 6 years now. Im planning a business trip back to my home country (Hungary) within the next couple months.

Since this is my first time making an international trip ever since i immigrated to the USA, Im kind of concerned/worried if there might be any issues with coming back.

I do not have a criminal background, and my card is currently valid (unexpired).

Can someone tell me what normally happens at the border when permanent residents come back? I want to believe im just being paranoid, but i dont want to risk not being able to come back for whatever reason.

Thank you.

I left the US for the first time after being here 5 years + last Oct and was gone for about 10 days. Had no issues whatsoever. They may or may not ask; where you went, how long you were gone for, any reason for the trip? But relax. YOU ARE GOING TO BE FINE :) .

Zero need to worry, I was out of the country 5+ times while on AP, well over 20 times while on conditional GC and 5+ times so far on expired GC+I-797. Travel while on AP was a bit more of a hassle since I always had to go to secondary screening at airport PoEs, but even then it was always just a formality. These days I enter on NEXUS which works just fine even with the expired GC, I just had the I-797 registered at an enrollment office and it works without issues.

Yes, its a 5 day trip.

Its not nice to bully someone for their health issues. :(

But seriously, do LPR get held up, threated any different than citizens at the border?

No, LPRs generally go through the same kiosks and lines as USCs (unless they are on an expired GC and extension letter).  As already stated, only USCs are guaranteed re-entry, but LPRs also have rights the biggest of which is that if given an issue, an LPR cannot have their status revoked by CBP.  Of course that is worst case, LPRs travel internationally all the time with no issues.  As long as you will not be visiting China you should have no issues.

Good Luck!

Oh I am sure they will haha. As long as the OP stays far away from there, (using yoda voice) - Run into any issues, he should not :)

I had 18 international travels before naturalization, and the only questions I had been asked at the POEs are:
    • How many days have you been out of the country?
    • Where did you go?
    • What was the purpose of your visit to X?
    • Do you have any food in your luggage?

If you still worry about it, I’d recommend to enroll in the Global Entry.
