Hi everyone,

When it's time and you have to attend your interview, they say you should bring all original copies of your documents.

My question would be is, do we have to bring an actual tax transcript that was mailed in from the IRS or can we request online and just print it out.

Thanks for your advice!

Print the online version of the transcript. It is only a page or 2 and gives them all the information they need. My last tax return with 2 schedule C's and other deductions would have been 15-20 pages. Transcript was 2, From many posts on here the transcripts are preferred by many.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

Ok thats great to know. So I don't need to have the IRS send a original physical copy from them. I can just get in online and print it off and they will accept that as the original document?

That's what I used for my K1 visa interview ( 3-years worth), and it is what I am taking to my AOS interview on the 5th in a few days here. No issues so far. The online ones are the same as what they will print to send to you, if you can pass all the stupid online steps to verify yourself, that's the easy way out. I ordered them also ( just as a backup) and they came in about 7-8 days, so pretty quick if you have to do the snail mail option.

Ok cool! So the ones you ordered looked exactly the same as the ones you printed out? :) Also, how long after you submitted your taxes were you able to download them from online?

The online tax return transcript and the one you receive in the mail is the same thing. It's not like the mailed one has any stamps and/or signatures, IRS just print it and send it to you the way it is. So you can may as well do it yourself, same thing but faster.

Do you know how long it takes for the Tax Transcript to show up online after you filed?

Not sure, no. Last year we filed our taxes in mid-March and about a month later I sent in my ROC application that included the new tax transcript. So that was about a month in between, but it's very possible the transcript is available much sooner than that. I never kept an eye on it tbh.

Ok no worries. Thanks again.

Hi @Scandi Sorry to bother you again! We were looking on the IRS site and wasn't sure what option to choose.

There is:

  • Return Transcript

  • Record of Account Transcript

  • Account Transcript

  • Wage & Income Transcript

Can you or someone assist with which one is the correct one to choose?

Thanks again!

I used the "return transcript" and those were accepted.

Also they like to use the "blanket cover" bring everything original and copies. Just so they can say "we told you so" if they ask for something. Don't be surprised if they never ask for them. I was asked to show my greencard, passport and interview letter.

Thanks for your reply! I am confused because on their site it states "NVC strongly recommends the submission of tax transcripts since they typically provide the information necessary for an evaluation of completeness of the Affidavit of Support and result in more efficient processing. "

So I wasn't sure if which option was the best option based on their requirements.

Ok, now I'm confused. You are talking about the N-400 interview correct? As you are now mentioning the NVC

Interview for spousal green card. Did I did something incorrect earlier? If so, my apologies.

We are in the process of submitting our AOS documents.
