If anyone remembers my 'stay or go?' dilemma...

Anyone who remembers all my fretting after my interview back in March about whether to get on the first plane out of Heathrow (or Gatwick, as it turned out) as soon as I got my visa, or whether to wait around in the hopes of getting made redundant (and therefore being paid to leave a job I was going to leave anyway)...

Well, I got sick of waiting, quite obviously, because I've been here since the end of April. BUT... I was very (very, very) happy today to discover that...

I HAVE NOW OFFICIALLY BEEN MADE REDUNDANT!!!! Woohoo!!!! :dance::dance:

Never thought I'd be happy to 'lose' a job, but unsurprisingly, I am! (Well, actually it feels really weird, even though I was obviously never going to go back there... strange). If anyone's wondering how I managed that one despite having been in the US for nearly 7 weeks - my employers rather generously gave me a massive chunk of unpaid leave, so that I could get my ####### over here ASAP and they'd still be able to make me redundant if/when they ever got their acts together (which, amazingly, they finally did)... crafty, eh?

Anyway... just wanted to share, for anyone who remembers all my moaning and umming and ahhing on the subject in March!! :)

Wow. That is very smart. Taking unpaid leave or a leave of absence is always the best option where ever possible.

:lol::lol:

Thank you all.... seems SO bizarre to be being congratulated on being made redundant (!!!!) - I can't quite believe that all that 'wouldn't it be perfect if....' worked out in the end despite my bottling it at the last minute and leaving before it was all sorted out. S'not that much money, but in my little world, being paid to leave a job I'd have undoubtedly left anyway (and effectively already had) feels like winning a mini-lottery! :huh:

Anyway, enough of my babbling... thanks on all the 'congratulations on not having a job anymore', everyone! :)

I will be sending job-losing vibes your way... oh wait, that sounds awful, doesn't it?! :unsure:

But seriously, I think the concept of maternity leave might have had something to do with them finally getting their acts together and making me redundant... they wanted to cut six jobs and had six volunteers. During the last few months, while they've been umming and ahhing and failing to get anything done, two out of the six got pregnant... and The Management were left with no choice but to agree they'd pay them their full whack of maternity pay on top of the redundancy they'd be getting. I have a feeling that what with my just having got married and all (and possibly the odd friend/work colleague dropping 'subtle' 'oooooh, she's married now, it won't be long, you mark my words.....' hints in their direction), they might've decided they'd better sort it out ASAP before I made un unwelcome 'announcement'....!!!

Anyway... here's hoping you can swing it, if there's even the remotest chance... but that you don't get left with the 'how long is too long to wait??' dilemma into the bargain!!

Heheehee, that's PERFECT!! :lol::lol:
