This is what I found online. Most of it is up to the consulate officer discretion and I believe they will do additional background checks. The applicant has to meet all three criteria.

I am completely broken 😭 I have been waiting so long.

Don’t give up it’s difficult but it can work out. The best thing to do now is to stay informed and know your options. I am devastated too when I heard yesterday but we can’t get too down. The waiver is still possible or the ban can be lifted. Stay strong and positive.

Immigration is not a right , that is why you file a petition to request the privilege to have a foreigner join you in the US. The government has decided for the time being that certain countries are to fraud prone and anti american to grant the petition without special investigations.  Nigeria is on that list.   If you want to be together now, the option is for you to move there.  To bring someone here has become a multi year process.  I know that goes against the immediate gratification that US citizens think is there right but it used to be the standard process.   The government is seeing it as the  good for the many versus the pain for a few.

From your profile, looks like you went through the same process in 2009, so I'm sure if it was as easy as to "just move there" you yourself would have just done that rather than the K-1 process. All circumstances does not allow that option and one would think someone who personally went through it themselves would have better advise for those who's been affected by this sudden ban. I'm sure if this ban was placed during your process, you would have felt differently about it. Guess it's hard for you to relate now since you're already in the US and congrats on your naturalization.

"First, as I said before, it is important to remember that this Proclamation only restricts entry on certain categories of immigrant visas. Family members can still visit their loved ones, businesses can still employ qualified candidates, and other visits can take place on a temporary basis with a non-immigrant visa."

I just observed he used certain categories of immigrant visas and not all categories of immigrant visas. Hopefully fiance(e) and spousal visas won't be affected

I hope so too.

This is so encouraging. I'm trying to be strong and I implore everyone affected to do the same and support each other. My fiance has been so supportive and positive about a reversal or something new that's positive. I want to keep waiting for the approval of my case and see what's ahead.

I spoke to my attorney today who confirmed that yes this will impact K-1 visas that are pending.  She expects that interviews will be conducted and afterwards the case will go into administrative processing, indefinitely, until the ban is lifted or further instructions are received from the US government.  She said waivers are not likely for K-1 cases since it is much harder to prove extreme hardship compared to say a married couple or parent/child being separated.

It doesn't seem like there is much that can be done except hope the ban is lifted or challenged in court, or vote Democrat in November...

This is an expansion of a ban which has already been upheld by the Supreme Court in June of 2018.  Hopefully, these countries will soon be removed as was Chad.

The question is about the date of the visa.

My wife’s k-1 has an issue date that is two days after the interview.  The visa and passport were not available for pickup until about ten working days later.

This is what my laywer was talking about. That it has to do with the issue date. Not the actual day he picks it up in his hand. So how do you know what your issue date is? Do they tell you at interview?

Hi, please a very quick question. I'm a Nigerian and my fiance is a USC. we are getting married in march and would be applying for a cr1 visa. Due to the current travel ban placed on my country Nigeria and some other countries, will the travel ban affect our via and application (Cr1) or not?
