The president at the end of January expanded the travel ban to Myanmar, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Sudan, Tanzania and Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa. A Democratic amendment to terminate those latest restrictions was approved, 19-8, during the markup.

The bill would also strengthen nondiscrimination protections in the Immigration and Nationality Act to prohibit discrimination based on religion. The law states that immigrants cannot be denied a visa based on "race, sex, nationality, place of birth, or place of residence." These protections would be extended to non-immigrant visas.

May have been approved in a House Committee, but not relevant. Political posturing.

Yea, the republicans rule the house so it is not expected to stand from what I hear. Be nice if it did though.

Misprint, sorry but this vote won't matter any way. Unfortunately. My husband is from a travel ban country and it would be great if the vote mattered. It's all a wait and see situation.

No problem and I agree, seems Nigeria will pick up their game. So just a question of when.

My husband had his interview today Feb 20th Lagos embassy and was approved. After the interview, he asked the CO if the travel ban will affect his visa, the CO responded No, you are not affected.

Told you to have faith. Check his status by tomorrow. His visa should be issued.
