What’s more surprising is that tourists who can adjust their status are allowed to travel and are prioritized as opposed to a fiancé/spouse.

Prioritized? Can you explain?

contrary to what you said regarding citizens of Yemen. I found this post where the OP

stated they were told during the interview that K1 visa is not under the ban.

Interesting. There are posts on VJ from others who said it did impact them from Yemen (I actually went back and searched this before posting).

I will say I do not personally know anybody from Yemen. I am going off reports from others.

I don't know anyone as well. Just going by what I'm seeing on VJ.

At this point I'm numb and have prepared my mind for whatever happens. If K1's are included in the ban then we deal with it and wait for the ban to be lifted. My fiancé visits Nigeria very often and I'm fortunate to have a Canadian visa so we will be meeting in Canada as well. whatever we have to do to survive the ban we will do while we wait for the ban to be lifted. "CAN'T COME AND KILL MYSELF" (my Naija peeps will understand this phrase) LOOOL

That brings up a question in my mind......on what grounds would a person file for a ban waiver if the delayed visa was a K-1?  Hardship?  In my mind, that would a very tall mountain to climb...

Understood. Same way here. Maybe they got further guidance after 2017/2018 on K-1s? I really can't say.

I have spent the entire day going through 135 pages of the travel ban support group thread. From what I understand, you don’t apply for a waiver. There’s a new system that allows the consular officer decide if you qualify for a waiver or not. It’s at their discretion during the interview. Most people said they didn’t have to prove any hardship and the embassies don’t even collect the waiver pack they prepare anymore.

But I really do not know how it works. Check out the travel ban support group thread there’s much info on there.

My understanding is that after the interview, the CO will inform you of the possibility of a waiver....but justification has to be submitted.....that's how I understand it.

Hmm if that’s the case, I guess everyone knows the hardship that they are facing in their relationship, then present it at the interview. I do not know what qualifies as hardship.

Hopefully, he is right, but I will be very surprised if that is true.....very surprised.  In my humble opinion, it would be wrong to issue fiance visas while not issuing spousal visas..a K-1 is a "non-immigrant visa" in name only......just my opinion......hopefully, the ban will be lifted soon.

Missileman I agree. Th K-1 is not categorized as an immigrant visa but for all purposes the K-1 is to bring someone to the states , marry and then adjust status. I just don't see the difference personally.

My husband had his interview today Feb 20th Lagos embassy and was approved. After the interview, he asked the CO if the travel ban will affect his visa, the CO responded No, you are not affected.

Please let us know when his visa is issued.

I doubt he will lie about something that serious except he’s not just sure of what he’s saying. I’m pretty sure you guys will get the visa. Stay positive!
