Hello,

I'm a Syrian citizen who was born in Saudi Arabia (so My state of chargeability is Saudi Arabia), and my wife is a US citizen, we have been married for more than 2 years and we are residing in Istanbul Turkey, our case was approved by the USCIS and the NVC 2.5 months ago, and now we are in the line waiting for our interview to be scheduled at the embassy in Ankara - Turkey.

As I understand that I'll be subjected to the travel ban because of my citizenship, so we need to prepare a waiver package to propose it during the interview.

My wife's temporary resident permit will be expired within 2 months and it can't be renewed, and she also needs to travel to the US as soon as she can to attend the internship at the hospital to graduate, and she does not want to travel without me.

Also, I’m sponsoring my wife because she doesn’t work, ant this point is very clear in our case since she was added me as a joint sponsor.

My questions are:
1- What should we include in the waiver package?

2- Have any one done that before?

3- Does our status eligible to file an expedite request for our interview?

4- Since My state of chargeability is Saudi Arabia, does that support our case anyhow?

5- Since my wife is in the medical filed, does that support our case anyhow? because as I see the medical field workers are having a special attention those days.

Finally, I just wanted to say that I’m confused because I’m about to get the Turkish citizenship after a few months and once I get it I’ll be a dual citizen who is exempted of the travel ban, so I’m afraid if we filed for expedite we may stuck in the waiver process for unknown time and if we postponed our interview until I become a dual citizen my wife will be overstayed in turkey.

Please advise.

I don't think you can prepare a waiver packet. It is up to the consular at

the interview to determine if they think you are qualified for the waiver.

That is correct; the CO atcthe embassy will determine if you are to recieve a waiver. Based on to how well your interview goes. If you are from a country that has been banned since 2017; I would suggest getting a lawyer to look into it for you as well.

Maybe, someone on visajourney has been through this. I would wait a few days to see if you get more replies to your question. Tomorrow is a holiday; therefore, a lot of people will not be working. Good luck 🙏!

Thank you, but the link is broken. I'm familiar with the daily trust; but it isn't showing anything.

I'm going to do some research now. Thanks, and I pray that President Buhari and his appointed committee are working on the security issues.

I don't think Trump will lift the ban simply because he doesn't like Nigeria. Only time will tell.
