I see lots of you talk about translations.. but the NVC page says: ''All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which you are applying for a visa, must be accompanied by certified translations.''  So does every document require a translation?

I just submitted all my docs to the NVC, some without a translation since they are in Spanish, the official language of my country and where they will be reviewed once i bring the originals to the appointment. But now I am freaking out that despite what the website says I should upload every supporting document with an official translation. This process is indeed making me such a paranoic person, I cant sleep thinking I made a mistake and in 2 months from now I will get an RFE and have a start all over, which means more time away from my husband.

No! not every document needs a translation. If you followed what the NVC page says then you're fine.. my country's language is spanish too, so my documents in spanish were submitted without translation and had no problems :)

I understand your concern but NVC has been inconsistent to say the least as far as different countries are concerned. My best bet will be to find someone in this forum who has very similar case as you meaning same country as you are applying from and also will be submitting similar documents to NVC. This is the only way you can feel a little better about what you submitted and this is the right time to double check your paperwork as if you change your paperwork right now you are only loosing few days compared to few weeks. So doubt as much and change as much in first few days and I guess hope for the best.

thank you for your insight, I agree that the NVC  makes decision on a case basis and no general rules apply, which leaves a big room for error and misinterpretation, especially for us who dont have attorneys working on our cases. It is already so much money involved.... extra expenses like translations and attorneys just add up sooo fast! I will follow your advice and uploas my birth certificate with the translation.

Hoping this month is finally our month for DQ!!

I’ve been checking your timeline🙏🏾 Hope soon you’ve been very patient🙌🏾 Thank your for being there for those that needed questions answered. One thing I’m nervous about is the AOS Documents, I submitted what I had for source of income. IE : Tax transcripts, and W2. I didn’t have any 1099s to file. And I also submitted my current last wage forms. Praying that’s enough🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Hopefully you will hear something by this week. I’m praying to hear from them as well by this week or next.

Thank you! I hope it's soon for you as well 🙏 1099 is only used if you are self employed, so unless you are self employed (I assume not since you have W2s) you should be okay with your tax transcripts, W2s, and paystubs. Let's hope we hear in the next week or two!! 🤞

  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Yes I’m praying for you🙏🏾🙏🏾 Anyone know what priority dates they are working right about now??🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 It’s also interesting that NVC doesn’t have a way for us to see if they’ve even checked our documents. I mean they make it easy for us to load documents but everything else so secretive😳
