Can anyone shed light into the whole scanning documents debacle? It shouldn´t be so hard but I am totally second guessing myself. I have searched endless internet rabbit holes and am getting conflicting info - and there are no official instructions...

I read that all documents should be scanned vertically - so the officer does not have to tilt his/her head.

What about certificates that are horizontal in nature? Should I shrink it so it´s vertically scanned?
Is there a Youtube tutorial on this?! :)

The document needs to be orientated corrected when uploaded, so if it's a horizontal document, it should be uploaded that way.

We had a mixture of documents and they were all accepted, just make sure it's the right way up.

You probably know this, but to add to what @RPC mentioned and help other people reading this thread, ensure that the information in the PDFs you send aren't editable. Saves applicants a reason for document rejection and the long re-queue times associated with it.

Basic rule of thumb:

If scanned from actual paper documents, you're good.

If document is digital in nature (Word document, etc.), take the extra step of printing to PDF (Windows has that functionality) to remove editable fields just to be sure.

Hope this helps. 😀

So, just got off the phone with US Embassy in Canberra... 30 mins of my life wasted.. If your thinking to do this, don’t waste your time and just keep banging your head on the wall.

note, outsourcing to call centres overseas continues even with the US Embassy.. 😐

Why did you call them? I emailed Sydney IV last week and they emailed back that they received my expedite case and will send the result to NVC to forward to me. Try emailing them perhaps???

Did you skip emailing NVC altogether and contacted the Embassy directly or did you email NVC first and chase up the outcome with Sydney?

Somebody who submitted doc on 1/29/29 got DQ. It was facebook post

Yeah the times NVC post online aren’t completely accurate. Some people who submit before the date they give are still waiting and others who submitted after will get DQ.

Even though I know that I still check the site religiously each week 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

I paid both fees on 2/17/2020. How long does it take to process.

Also, do i need to file 2019 tax return prior to submitting or last 3 year transcript should be good.

Thanks in advance

They sent case on Jan 27 to Department of State to review. Does this mean they’ve already probably created a case number for me and I should now await NVC welcome Email?

I have not contacted the NVC yet, the call wait times are pretty rough. Thanks guys!

”Sent to Department of State” means that USCIS have sent it to NVC, but the NVC receipt date will be maybe a week later if I had to guess.

You need to call them to check when they received it as they won’t notify you. NVC make initial contact once a number has been created, but the looks of it you should get one soon. I have my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻
