When I was on my L1 visa, I had to enter the US through the immigration line.  One morning, we landed coming back from Argentina with 2 other full, Latin American flights...regular immigration had me standing for over an hour and a half, waiting for an officer!  The line ups were insane.  The only place I've seen worse was in Dubai!

For Canada/US though, depends where you decide to enter.  Land crossings can be busy between Can/US border, especially during holiday season when there are lineups of RV's that they are checking.  5 of the major airports have US preclearance in Canada.  These locations pull you aside and can dig into your paperwork.  The handy part about it though, is that once you've cleared, you're technically on US soil, so there's no turning back!

I’d go via sweetgrass/coutts. Super not busy there. By walk I mean literally walk too. Just walk across into the POE building

Oh Definitely!

We'll give updates as we get them. we realized there was a lot of information lacking for jamaica, so we wanna explain what we can in the hopes someone else who might have that particular question, will have an answer

That's where I come through when I drive.  We'll actually enter the US there too (if ever) when we get there...

Don't pick summer...RV's galore and people getting stopped for silly things like dog food!  Its usually the CBSA that are harder to deal with though than CBP in my experience!

Does everyone have to submit their passport nd document originals to the consulate before the interview itself for the pre screening process?

Well I submitted them at the embassy during the interview. We're you instructed to do so?

Yes they sent me a mail a couple of days ago asking me to submit everything this week itself, as my interview is on Feb 10. Failure to submit wud result in rescheduling of the interview.

The only things to take to the interview on the 10th are photos and chat records.

Wondered if this was the common practice now..?!

Is it okay to wear jeans to the interview :P

Of course they do now, if you dont have government issued birth cert, you should get from NPC

So are you saying regardless of the year a person is born the birth certificate from NPC will be requested at the interview? Pls I will like to know in order to avoid time wasting.

I guess for your consulate they do a pre check. As it pertains the jeans, yup I wore a button up shirt sleeve and jeans, my wife wore jeans as well

Hey by chance, when you used the spreadsheet did you see any idea of how long on average your consulate was taking?

If you were born before 1991 you will have to get attestation of birth from the court which NPC will use to issue Birth cert you. Simply cos most folks born before that date don't normally have government issued birth cert, but if you were born after 1991 you can go to any local government and get a birth cert.

If all you have is the one issued by the hospital when you were then you will have to a government issued birth cert.

Hope you understand.
