Anyone who filed I 485 on feb 21, have you gotten Ead and AP approved? I filed my I 485 on feb 21st and biometrics on April 4th. Since the Asc was closed they used my old fingerprints. When I check online, it says on April 9th, your fingerprints review is completed but since then no updates on EAD and AP. On june 3rd, my interview is ready to be scheduled for I 485. I see a lot of people who filed on feb 10th,12th ,18th, their ead is approved. Idk if I should wait couple of days to see any updates or contact uscis.

Sent aos package feb 18, received feb21, resent ead mar24 - ead and ap card on hand now. Awaiting i485 interview schedule.

Not the best news but definitely some anecdotal evidence for those who have had their EAD/AP approved but have not yet done biometrics.. I saw this post on Reddit just now:

So it does seem as though the card production might be stalled until biometrics are taken.

02/22/20 -- AOS package (I-130/I-485/I-864/I-765/I-131) sent to USCIS

02/25/20 -- Package delivered to Chicago Lockbox

03/17/20 -- Cheques cashed and text messages received

03/20/20 -- Received NOAs in the mail (I-130/I-486/I-765/I-131)

05/04/20 -- Received I-693 courtesy letter

10/11/20 -- Received biometrics notice (finally! Yay!)

10/21/20 -- Biometrics (I485/I765 Code 3, I-131 Code 2 in Hartford, CT)

10/23/20 -- Biometrics applied to all cases (I-485/I-765/I-131)

10/27/20 -- Case ready to be scheduled for an interview (location unknown 😅)

11/12/20 -- Second biometrics appointment (I-131, Code 2, in Pittsburgh, PA)

01/20/21 -- I-765 Expedite Request Submitted

01/29/21 -- I-765 Expedite Request Approved

02/01/21 -- I-765/I-131 Approved

02/16/21 -- Interview was Scheduled

02/17/21 -- Interview confirmed to be scheduled at the wrong FO, request to reschedule interview initiated

03/16/21 -- Interview cancelled, entered into scheduling queue for the correct FO

05/14/21 -- Interview rescheduled

06/25/21 -- Interview completed in Pittsburgh, approved on the spot 🙏❤️

Hi all,

I seem to have an usual timeline for all of my applications. As of yesterday, my I-485 interview has been scheduled however, my I-765 and I-131 status has remained "fingerprints applied to your case" since March 13. Is that normal? I haven't received the I-485 notice in the mail yet but I was expecting my EAD process to be much quicker than the I-485. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thank you!

I'm in the same boat. However, the interview scheduled for August 13 was canceled last Friday. No idea why - I haven't heard from them since. But my EAD status changed to New card being produced the other day.

Yeah and if you are approved why are you asking for biometrics?, 60 days later: you can't get a card, you need biometrics!

I finally spoke to the tier 2 today. The advice they gave me was to call back once my ASC is open (27th) and they will reschedule the biometrics if I am not already scheduled at that point. They said there's nothing they can do until the ASC is open, however.

I'm not sure how confident I feel about the information I was told, it seems as though they are confused as to why approvals are happening without biometrics from every agent I've spoken to.

  • 2020-02-14: Date Filed
  • 2020-02-19: NOA1
  • 2020-03-13: Biometrics appointment (Rescheduled due to conflict)
  • 2020-04-01: Biometrics appointment (Rescheduled due to COVID)
  • 2020-07-15: EAD approved (no biometrics taken)
  • 2020-08-10: Biometrics Appointment (Success)
  • 2020-08-20: EAD in hand
  • 2020-09-21: AOS Interview Scheduled
  • 2020-11-05: AOS Interview + Approval

I don't know why you guys still call the misinformation line. Every agent will say something different. They are not the officers working on cases. They can only see what's in their system. Which is basically what we see on the case tracker. That's why a lot of people who called was told since they were approved they would receive the card. They only saw the approval in the system and assumed everything was fine.

Also, it's not possible to call and schedule a biometric appointment. They can't do that. The appointment will come from NBC, and because of covid, the appointments are coming at a much slower rate.

I know it's not the best advice, since you guys really want to receive your EAD, but unfortunately there's nothing to do besides waiting. COVID made it all a huge mess. And unfortunately everyone will have to deal with that.

I ended up just going to San Francisco, as I didn’t want to risk it. It went pretty smoothly, somehow I was the only person there and they told me that they’re limiting the number of people they allow in (I guess that’s what’s causing the scheduling delays).

Good call not to risk it, and congrats getting the biometrics done!! Hopefully you will get your EAD approval soon!

Very weird that you were the only one there though! How long were you in there for? Let's say you wanted to be really safe and keep 10 ft to everyone else, couldn't they have processed more people? Did the people working there seem busy or were they just standing around waiting for you? To me it seems like they are causing delays on purpose. For example:
1) They could have opened up the ASCs in June along with the field offices. I have not read a good reason why they did not.
2) They can process more appointments each day. Doesn't sound like safety and covid spread is their real concern. If it was, most of the ASCs and field offices should have closed down again. (I am happy they haven't, but their reasoning is not consistent.)

Not surprising given the America (and Americans) First policy of the administration, but let's just hope that the furloughs don't happen and that they start picking up the pace!

If they wanted to put Americans first they should let my wife (I am a USC) get her work permit!

Guys let me tell you what I already published on reddit r/USCIS. If your EAD or AP or EAD/AP combo card is approved but no card produced, and you have never been to an ASC, this means 3 things:

- NBC is handling your case (most likely), not some other office

- USCIS was able to pull your biometrics from other source like CBP,  thru PCQS for example (google for what it is). They ran the checks using that biometrics

- USCIS needs to put your fingerprint hash onto the card, and for that they need extended biometric data, not the one they pull out of PCQS. That's why you need ASC biometrics

- In most cases your EAD/AP card will go into production within days after your biometrics feeds into the system - you do not need to wait for background checks again

This is general approach, there are some exceptions. Apparently there are some lucky individuals that had their hashes available from somewhere and they actually got the cards without ASC appointments - but those are exceptions. I checked thousands of cases today on USCIS website and I can tell you appx. 40% of people with cancelled biometrics have EAD/AP approved (mostly EB, less FB cases) but no cards produced. They all have to wait for ASC appointment, including myself.

My wife (a USC) is saying the exact same thing! This is affecting a lot of USCs, and I am not sure why they would punish them too, but I guess they have figured out that it is still politically advantageous.

Sounds to me that a legal case could be made on behalf of all the USCs affected by this...

One more thing to add: it feels like the EAD/AP cases with related active AOS (excluding not current, retrogressed etc.)  have better chances for getting biometrics earlier. Standalone EADs (e.g. visa-related or inactive AOS) appear to be placed in the end of the que - this is my observation
