yeah I feel you, it sounds crazy, I also use the online chat and ask for representative , and he said the same thing if the I-765 is approved means they bypassed the biometrics and next I should be expect is the EAD card, finger cross I hope they are telling the truth

OK that is really good to hear. thank you for confirming.

I believe they don't send a card until you have biometrics done.

Just an update, I checked my EAD/AP status online and from “Case Was Approved” on June 30, it finally changed to “Card Was Mailed To Me” on July 20. To add, mine went “New Card Is Being Produced” first before then Case Was Approved after a day.

Hoping to hear more good news for/from everyone.

🌟Woke up to some good news! New card is being produced! The status changed from "Fingerprints were taken" to "New card is being produced". The company I had been working for before I moved has been patiently waiting all this time :)
This makes me feel SO much better. It was pretty frustrating - and it still is - when they scheduled an interview and canceled it a week later. Still waiting for a letter from USCIS that would explain what happened

This is what I came up with using the USCIS online chat. Just got done speaking with them:
Me: Asked about if any of the offices in Chicago are doing biometrics (mind you 2 opened this week).
Representative: Not at this moment. The office are opening by phases the first set was last week but none for Chicago. Next set is opening next week
Representative: Unfortunately we have not been provided the list of offices that are next. (seems absurd because we can check all that stuff online, so ill informed....but maybe they mean offices opening their biometrics).
We are in Chicago, I tried to push them to see if they could get me in for an appointment at the ASC that I knew opened this week (our original appointment was at a one on the other side of the city which opens on the 27th)...seemed like they might be able but then hits me with the reply above. I dunno if they are idiots or if for real they haven't started biometrics this week in Chicago. If anyone here is from Chicago and knows anything more, please let me know. I don't know if I should be angry or more frustrated with the answers. Either way its a lose, lose. USCIS 1-0 VJ members.
Quick Google Maps search: one of the 2 ASC seems to be open. The 2 thats supposed to be open still has a "Temporarily Closed" mark next to it. So who knows if what we see on USCIS.gov opening is true.

Is there anyone who missed the the fingerprints due to the shutdown gotten a biometrics notice yet? According to the website our office doesn't open back up until 07/27/2020... our biometrics appointment was literally on 03/18/2020 😩

This is same boat we're in. Have you called to make sure biometrics are even nessesary? Our 765 was approved and rep said our biometrics are "bypassed".

This is a great question. Maybe we can create a new thread or a running list of JUST the people who missed biometrics by one day to two weeks?  It will help us crowd source the info and what is going on.
@fromsweden was told they could bypass biometrics

@joeingles was told to go to an office three states away.
ETC.
The reps at USCIS are confused and are really getting internal guidance.
We missed biometrics by two days before shutdown. No letter or appointment yet.

Who else missed biometrics by just a few days or a week before the shutdown. And what correspondence / updates so far?

That's a good idea. There is a megathread here that gets updates once in a while too:

Our appointment was for 3/24. Not a bad idea just to get some perspective.

On a side note, checking processing times on USCIS; I checked either Sunday or yesterday it has said they were taking case inquires for January 8, 2020. Just checked date jumped to January 24, 2020 AND processing times changed from 4.5-6.5 months to 4-6 months (NBC). Hopefully there is a valiant push for February EAD/APs before August 3. Things are moving, we are getting there.

Wow. So they skipped your biometrics as well?  You and @fromsweden both skipped biometrics. That is a great sign.

yeah looks like they approved it without biometric but has no intention moving for actual card production, I heard some people's I-765 application got approved without biometric on June (with expedite request ) but haven't received the actual card yet

This is crazy. So we're waiting on a biometric appointment that we are told we don't even need before anything can happen. The agents don't even know what they are talking about. We should be first in line with our biometrics cancelled 3/18 and still no appointment notice yet.

I don't know what to do at this point... write my congressman?
