Here's bad and good news.

The bad news is the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the agency that handles all bunch of budget, did not make a formal request for emergency funding as of June 30th.

The good news is US Representatives Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) and Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) prepare for emergency bills to support USCIS despite USCIS. And, they expect to approve before August.

I truly didn't expect this thing happens within this year, but it happens!

Apparently, those two US Representatives can't bear any risk of unemployment in their district. :)

Yes, something will pass the House,  and probably also the Senate, but then it will go to Trump's desk. My worry is that Stephen Miller (the master mind behind the recent immigration policies) will whisper some ridiculous reason for not signing the bill.

Hopefully the concern for the 13,400 American jobs outweighs the desire to halt immigration all together!

For people waiting to get their card produced, apparently USCIS created a printer problem for themselves:

"Some 50,000 green cards and 75,000 other employment authorization documents promised to immigrants haven’t been printed, USCIS said in a statement."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/how-the-trump-administration-is-turning-legal-immigrants-into-undocumented-ones/2020/07/09/15c1cbf6-c203-11ea-9fdd-b7ac6b051dc8_story.html

Hopefully they will sort out this issue quickly! :(

Lord have mercy! This administration has really made things miserable & more tedious for people who are actually trying to do things the "right" and "legal" way and live with their families. A budget crisis, a halt in processing immigrants, and now a printer problem... 😣. I truly pray this will be rectified asap!

If you wait on the government to do or fix anything,  I would not hold my breath. I have NO confidence in the government to do anything! I'm really negative about them and that's saying something because I'm usually a pretty positive person!

USCIS is like a box of chocolates, you never know what kind of answer you are going to get!!!!

Yup you are always positive on this forum. But I agree with you on this. I'm not sure if money is available for immigration right now. Congress may not see it as a priority to bailout USCIS, when billions are being spent trying to minimize further spread of Covid-19 and treat the existing cases.

All we can do is deal with it and hope for the best!

I requested an expedite over the phone with a Tier 1 officer. Didn't work because of lack of biometrics.

Where and when did you visit an application service center? I didn't know that any of them had actually opened yet. Was there a lot of activity there?

Hope you get your AP soon so that you can go back home!

Does filing for an expedited EAD pause processing? We called to expedite back in March but, with the pandemic, my husband lost his job offer and therefore couldn’t fax the evidence. So our case has been sitting as “Expedite Request Received” since then.

By the looks of others timelines we should be getting the “card being produced” update soon.... just hoping it’s not in weird limbo.

Should we call or do you think it’ll process like normal?

You can call service center and ask for infoPass. In case of emergency they will call you and give you info pass. They will take 5-7. business day.

I wanted to ask you guys to see if anyone could provide guidance or correct my understanding of some changes to our financial situation and how to properly update USCIS.

When we submitted my husband's I-864, he was working and was earning above, but close to, the minimum, so we used his parents as joint sponsors (submitted an I-864/I-864A for my FIL/MIL). I was not working at the time (no EAD).

His income was substantially reduced due to COVID but is now back up to normal. His parents' joint income was affected (my FIL was not affected but my MIL's income was slightly reduced). As a household, they make well over 5x the USCIS guidelines, so having lost some income for our joint sponsors shouldn't be a huge problem.

That said, these are the changes to our situation that are not COVID-related: my husband's income will be dropping to $0 as he will be starting medical school in two weeks. I, on the other hand, am now working with my OPT EAD, and make above the USCIS guideline for a two-person household. We have health insurance through my employer, and this position is permanent so long as I remain eligible to work in the USA.

From my understanding, we need to fill out a new I-864/I-864A for our household, because my husband's income is now $0 and we have my salary to include in our household income calculation. Do we need to submit this via mail to USCIS or do we bring this to our interview, when it's scheduled? As well, do we need to fill out a new I-864/I-864A for his parents, our joint sponsors, or can we bring current paystubs to show their income? Similarly, we submitted my husband's 2019 tax transcripts with the initial I-864, but my in-law's application included their 2018 tax transcripts, as that was most recent. Would we just bring their 2019 tax transcripts to our interview?

02/22/20 -- AOS package (I-130/I-485/I-864/I-765/I-131) sent to USCIS

10/23/20 -- Biometrics applied to all cases (I-485/I-765/I-131)

10/27/20 -- Case ready to be scheduled for an interview (location unknown 😅)

11/12/20 -- Second biometrics appointment (I-131, Code 2, in Pittsburgh, PA)

01/20/21 -- I-765 Expedite Request Submitted

01/29/21 -- I-765 Expedite Request Approved

Does anyone hear about biometric appointment form USCIS?

I haven't heard about the news saying anyone gets a new appointment letter, and just curious about whether the people high up in the hierarchy of the USCIS are desperately waiting for a furlough for not collecting fingerprints.

Nothing yet. Our local office opened today so we’re hoping to get something soon. Our appointment should’ve been during the first week of shutdowns in March.
