Nevermind. I just saw the executive order. It’s directed at green cards. And family based as well. Another two months plus added onto an already brutal process. Hang in there, everyone. It was already an insanely trying process. We can handle this thrown at us as well. Thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by this needless power move when there already is so much hurt and suffering from all of this right now.

Yeah I am not seeing that anywhere. Can you provide a link? I must admit, I find the US media extremely overwhelming and hard to navigate. While one news outlet says one thing, another will say something else. I really try not to watch too much news here or take it in as fact.

Also, I don’t just consider us as a ‘work visa seeking’ group here. Like, we are married to US Citizens.

NYTimes. I will look for the link. It’s 60 days and aimed at green cards and those wanting to be here permanently. Ie families. It is not signed yet. That will be tomorrow. Will grab the link later. Need to go for a run and burn off this negative energy now.

If it helps any, I also found this quote:

“...the 60-day pause announced by Trump will not have an effect on any non-immigrant visa programs.”

Where did you see it? It's not signed yet, so I guess and hope that it can still change. Let's all sign this petition and see if we can induce an exception:

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/change-immigration-suspension-executive-order-add-exception-immediate-family-members-us-citizens-0

Reading this made me feel a bit better but I will still be on edge till I read the EO stipulations with my own eyes.

The Bloomberg article differs from other sources so don’t hang your hat on it. Whoever said they’ve read the EO must also be mistaken as to my knowledge it has not been released yet.

You’re right. All we can do is speculate. I posted another source above. But like I mentioned, we can speculate all day long - won’t matter until the EO is released. I’m still optimistic.

I really hope I am wrong and this NYT article is wrong. Trump clarified that his executive order will not apply to temporary visas. He is targeting green cards.  His target is those who want to be in the USA permanently, whether through work or family.  The ban is for another two months on top of the current office closures. Let’s see how it plays out tomorrow. You have no idea how much I hope my information ends up being wrong.

Ha. I hope you’re wrong too. I feel like this is the diff between news in the USA vs Canada. I feel like Canadian news broadcasters are more ‘factual’ and less speculative. Less opinionated for sure. Like I said, I find the news in the US very hard to follow. Like, who do you listen to? I feel like they all report the same event a million different ways.

Yeah. I usually grab headlines from New York Times and CNN and then watch Fox to see what they are saying. That combo usually tells you where the facts are if you triangulate between them. This one is confusing because news sources were trying to guess what Trump was Tweeting in a midnight rant. Unfortunately, the NYT article above is responding to Trump’s  words and clarifications today about what really will be in the executive order. And it will be aimed at Green Cards and permanent situations both family and work based. He said this ban will be 60 days and then will be evaluated based on the economy. Let’s see what actually gets written into the final version tomorrow. I really, really hope I am wrong.

I know I’m wasting my time by trying to rationalize an EO before it’s release, thus creating scenarios and trying to rationalize them. Ha!

I still firmly believe it’s aimed at those in the beginning stages of the process. In fact, Canada has done the very same thing  - they just didn’t tweet about it or make a big deal about it. Canada has ceased processing of visas, however they are still processing permanent resident applications.

After several months of relaxation without worries about all this stuff im now back scouring the forums about this EO....i hope this wont affect those of us who have already filed for aos and those of us still awaiting our employment authorisation...the inability to work and contribute financially is so so difficult and throw this pandemic and social distancing into the mix..its crazyness. Hopefully it will be released tomorrow and we will know where we stand. Crossing my fingers for all of us ❤

I honestly think we are fine. And by that, I don’t think it will get any worse for us. The process itself has almost come of a complete halt. I’ve read various news source reports and despite the differences on whether they agree with this strategic move or not, they all seem to be saying that this is not about us (marriage based immigration). From what I can tell, it largely affects those that use their work visas to stay here and GC holder that apply for relatives. I’m confident we are fine. And who knows, maybe with the cease of other permit application processing, it will speed ours up. Maybe the manpower put towards those other applications will be used towards our applications. I know, I’m reaching now. Just trying my best to be positive.

Yeah hopefully....i guess we will find out soon...until then im gonna try and avoid reading too much into it...nothing gives me anxiety more than a headline which includes the words trump and immigration.

You'll  be alright the hardest part is over. You just gotta relax. This proposed  EO is doing what it's  intended to do, to divide, disrupt and confuse. This is not the first bad news that has came out. We'll be fine at this stage!
