Hi

I did I-485 and I-765 biometrics taken yesterday that was March 12

But today I got a letter from USCIS appointment to my I-131 AP biometrics taking on coming March 24

I learned ppl said no need to take biometrics for I-131 AP seperately

But I got this appoinment is it abnormal?

It has been a crazy 2020, and we are just three months in. I just wanted to share my experience from the law office where I work, so you guys have some idea of the climate currently.

Let me start off with I am frustrated because just yesterday one of those packets sent before the 24th was rejected. It was sent out the 22nd and was delivered to Chicago on the 24th. That same day we sent out seven others exactly the same way. Mind you there is no difference except probably the individual who looked them over at the lock-box. Now 6 out of the 7 were no problem, but one did comeback.  To make things worse it was raining and when it came back the whole packet was soaked. As if someone dipped it in water , so everything inside the packet was destroyed. Of course we always make copies of everything sent, so at least we have that. USCIS has no idea sometimes how to implement its policies, especially regarding this new public charge rule. If they don't know how can anyone else know. We sent those public charge forms out to clients that have consular appointments and sometimes they ask for them and sometimes they don't (although became effective after Feb. 24). I think we wont know the full story until this policy has been in place for at least like a year.

Today I got an e-mail for the embassy in Beirut, Lebanon because one of clients was scheduled   for an appointment there on March 20th. He left on Monday and guess what they are suspending routine consular operations. This might be something that might be prudent to keep an eye out on, because can be the first of many. I am just updating you guys just to give you my experience of the climate right now. It's crazy to say the least.

Sigh -- super jealous of you guys moving forward in the process! We're still waiting on text messages here :)

Me too! Ahhh. On the USPS tracking site, mine does not show it was signed by anyone, it just says delivered.

Thanks for the update, but sorry to hear about the (random) rejection!

What are you guys going to do about that case? Are you going to try to appeal the rejection or are you just going to refile with the new forms?

Hi guys,

I have been following this thread for a while, and I am in the same situation as a bunch of people here who filed just before the February 24th deadline. Thanks to everyone who has shared their experience so far - it reduces the stress of this process a lot! Here is my timeline:

2/23/2020 - Sent my concurrent I-485/I-130/I-765/I-131 application via FedEx to Chicago, IL
2/25/2020 - Arrived in Chicago in the AM, signed by J. Harper
3/12/2020 - Received the entire application in return - REJECTED due "application filed on an outdated version of this form".

I am confident that this is an USCIS error - can I appeal an rejection, and if so, what is the process and have people done so successfully?

The USCIS instructions clearly said that if sent by courier, "the postmark date is the date reflected on the courier receipt". My courier receipt says Feb 23, 2020 3:40:53 PM. I did not include the FedEX receipt in my package though. I think the problem was that this receipt date is not reflected on the FedEX shipping label (which they actually returned to me). On the shipping label, it says that the ship date is February 24th as that is the date the package got picked up at the FedEx location. I naively thought that they would check the FedEX tracking number which is on the shipping label which would confirm that I sent in the package on the 23rd. In retrospect, I should have gotten the FedEx employee to write "this package was "postmarked" on February 23rd" on the outside of the package and have her sign it.

Anyone else who sent their package before the 24th deadline, but had a ship date of Feb 24th? Did they accept the application?

Anyone with any advice for how I should proceed? Should I try to appeal the decision or should I just dive into the really annoying I-944 form?

Thanks for all the advice, and I hope that other people in the same situation are luckier than what I was!

I found out I got rejected too today. They shipped my packet back with the letter saying I used outdated form. They send me the cut out from FEDEX package . And I guess they based on the day it was shipped and not the day you brought it to the courier.

04/23/ - Sent my packet to Fedex office and shipped it thru express but It was Sunday , so it was shipped Monday

04/24. - Shipping date

04/25 - Received by USCIS and signed by J. Harper at 10:am

Its really stressful and devastating to know that you’re packet got returned. 😭

Yup, they did the exact same with me. At least they are consistent, but I still think they are wrong. That same FedEx cutout contains a tracking number which confirmed that we gave it to FedEx on the 23rd!

Sorry that this happened to you to. Still trying to figure out what is the best course of action now. Called USCIS today, but have to call back to get hold of a Tier 2 officer. Regardless, we have lost 3 weeks of processing time. :(

Hey we did the biometrics March 6 and it was updated on the status for aos and ead. But we just got a notification to do another one for the travel document. Do we have to do it again? The one we already did can’t be applied ?
