Hello everyone! Quick question to you all; Today I went to the RMV in Boston to get my ID. I asked what was the process to apply for a learner's permit and the office told me I could not apply with the EAD. He said and I quote "USCIS believes you have the right to work but not to drive. Driving is a privilege" ?!!?!?!?!?!?! He said since the EAD card expires in less than a year (if you notice, your ead card expires one day before completing 1 year), I cannot apply for a learner's. Can anyone share their experience with me please? This sounds absurd.

Sounds this sounds untrue but then again every state has a different set of guidelines. In the state of Arizona where I live on their DMV website it allows immigrants with a visa to apply for a driver's license even without an EAD. They would use the expiration date on the visa or the EAD as the expedition date for the license.

Okay, new reason to obsess and be neurotic -- my case status has not updated to reflect my biometrics being completed. Almost 36 hours later...

This process has turned me into an anxious mess 🙄😫

Don't put too much energy into their status updates - USCIS has been really bad at updating cases lately. You will be fine.

This is true -- this morning I got three texts/emails saying there's been an update to my case, but the update isn't showing anywhere (in fact, I've been experiencing the problem with the my.uscis account not being "available"). I'm positive it's just a fingerprints update, but still.

Sigh.

02/22/20 -- AOS package (I-130/I-485/I-864/I-765/I-131) sent to USCIS

02/25/20 -- Package delivered to Chicago Lockbox

03/17/20 -- Cheques cashed and text messages received

03/20/20 -- Received NOAs in the mail (I-130/I-486/I-765/I-131)

05/04/20 -- Received I-693 courtesy letter

10/11/20 -- Received biometrics notice (finally! Yay!)

10/21/20 -- Biometrics (I485/I765 Code 3, I-131 Code 2 in Hartford, CT)

10/23/20 -- Biometrics applied to all cases (I-485/I-765/I-131)

10/27/20 -- Case ready to be scheduled for an interview (location unknown 😅)

11/12/20 -- Second biometrics appointment (I-131, Code 2, in Pittsburgh, PA)

01/20/21 -- I-765 Expedite Request Submitted

01/29/21 -- I-765 Expedite Request Approved

02/01/21 -- I-765/I-131 Approved

02/16/21 -- Interview was Scheduled

02/17/21 -- Interview confirmed to be scheduled at the wrong FO, request to reschedule interview initiated

03/16/21 -- Interview cancelled, entered into scheduling queue for the correct FO

05/14/21 -- Interview rescheduled

06/25/21 -- Interview completed in Pittsburgh, approved on the spot 🙏❤️

What does https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do report for your case?

One thing is clear, they have too many platforms for status updates 🤔

No update there, sadly. They definitely do. I usually use the egov website rather than that my.USCIS stuff (it always asks me to sign in at least twice before logging me in),  but just the fact that all of these different websites can show different things is frustrating.

USCIS has a huge issue not updating online status. I'm 100% sure that the notification was for your file getting fingerprints applied. Have faith!

Mine is sill the same, and did you guys noticed that now it’s impossible to get through agent when you call USCIS, when you say I want to speak with representative, she saying something like, you can get more information talking to me, what else can I help you, and what ever you said, like I want to speak with agent or I need more info about something, she said, I can’t help you with that and hang up every time 😂

USCIS ran out of money due to wasting $$$ on unwanted things. not at all surprised

duh

Thanks! Is there a way to track it?

Talk to Emma on the website and ask for a representative. When you get to one ask for the tracking number.
