Hi everyone, I wanted to give an update - I just got my approval letter for EAD! This was a total shock because it never updated on the case tracker. The approval is dated October 16th. I was outside of normal processing times on October 8th.

Congrats!!  Yeah so crazy how nothing happens for months and months and months and then all of a sudden!!  Boom. Happy mailbox!

I had my biometrics. Is this OK if all fingerprints mismatch?

Mine turned out okay. There was like seven fingerprints that mismatched. I asked the lady working there if I should do it again and she said that it’ll be fine

Filed in February, had the biometrics appointment cancelled due to COVID shutdown, did not receive a re-scheduled appointment letter until October 9th (Orlando office re-opened on July 13th, so they were really close on that 90-day window) for an appointment on October 19th. Hoping for a quick turnaround on the EAD as I've seen some others here have. That 12 to 30.5 month processing time for I-485s in Orlando is going to be...interesting.

Finally completed my biometrics today. it took less than 3 minutes to finish. ASC was empty and the employees are bored as hell.  What a cluster fest is USCIS. 9 months wait for a 3 minute task

I think most ASC are under working and over estimated about them being busy.

duh

Mine took about 10 minutes but they were really careful with COVID, that's probably the main issue. If things were controlled better, we would've gotten the appts a long time ago...

I completed my biometrics today as well. It was at the Alexandria ASC and it was actually pretty busy, there was about 20 people having their biometrics done at the same time as me

Just got back from my biometrics appointment, I was able to gather some information too. They process a maximum of 9 people per hour, and before COVID, the USCIS employee mentioned they used to process at least 50. I took me exactly 35 minutes on the clock, they scan your objects in airport security style and then ask you to take a seat until your number is called. Make sure to not leave your stamped papers behind as I did, the USCIS employee noticed I forgot them on the table and told me they do serve as proof your biometrics were taken in case anything does happen.
