So sorry to hear that! Have you tried reaching out to your congressman, like what others suggested? Or just keep calling them until you get someone who is actually interested to help. Hoping you’ll hear something soon! Can’t imagine how frustrating this must be for you.

Yes to congressman twice and no answer. I just checked mail, I got bio appointment 😁. At least something..

How did you reach for your congressman? They normally have a website with a section to contact them and select a category like immigration

Yes, just like that

It's the biometrics appointment! Scheduled for 10/20/2020, with Notice Date of 10/02/2020. It's Code 3 and the Case Types are I-485 and I-765.

Hey, are you gonna go in Chicago for biometrics? We have same date for biometrics

yeah that is pretty much the norm. Biometrics scheduling and online case status are not connected. they only get updated once finger prints are taken.

I'm in Portland, the fact we have the same date shows they intentionally waited until the end of the 90 day rule to give us appointments.

same thing for me. Appointment generated on October 2nd for October 20th. exactly on the 90th day since ASC reopen

So I just called USCIS to see whether my suspicion would be correct -- that if I wanted to change the biometrics to Pittsburgh, then I'd have to go back to the bottom of the waiting list pile.. firstly, I guess it's a USCIS holiday so there are no tier twos available today. I'll have to call tomorrow.

Secondly, she told me something that was different to my understanding. My husband and I used his parents' address (in Connecticut) as a mailing address. We tend to move around a lot (for school) and we've really struggled with receiving mail from USCIS at our current address. We used their address to ensure we don't miss anything important. On the forms, there's a space for your mailing and your physical address, and a place to explicitly state which field office is closest. We wrote Pittsburgh.

Now I was told that everything is based off the mailing address, which I didn't think was right but I also am not sure. I do know that where your interview is scheduled is very important because you need to interview with the office that has jurisdiction over your case.. so.. by my understanding, we need to be interviewed by Pittsburgh, because that's where we live. It sounds like this is an error on USCIS' part, but I wanted other. wiser opinions before I call tomorrow.

Also.. there's a big difference in processing times between Hartford and Pittsburgh, so it's definitely to our benefit to be processed by Pittsburgh.

Unfortunately that's a really common mistake they make. The person at the lockbox enters your mailing address in the system to get your NOAs delivered and that's the address they use for everything. So your interview will most likely be in CT too.

You will need to file a change of address to get everything moved to Pittsburgh.

i would recommend getting a USPS P O BOX based out of Pittsburg  in your case for mailing. Take advantage of low immigrant queue in Pitts burg. I think it becomes a willy wonka when you have two addresses one is Penn and other in Connecticut

duh

At this point, I think we're established enough here that we could use our actual mailing address, but a PO box might actually be a good thing. I'll have to call tomorrow to get everything straightened out. I just wish the system worked as it should, rather than causing all of these mistakes. I looked over the I-130 again, to refresh my memory, and it does indeed directly as which field office will be adjudicating the application (and we wrote Pittsburgh).

good thing with PO BOX is for those who move frequently its easier to manage than USCIS sending your mail to wrong locations across multiple states

duh
