Hi everyone,

I went to SSN office to change my last name to my new married name, but she said I could not change it until I receive my permanent residency card. I submitted all of my AOS paperwork with my new married name, too. This doesn't seem right... Did anyone else have this issue?

Yes they won't change to the married name until  you get your EAD or GC, we had that same problem. But some offices and states are different.

Edit: I found the answer to my own question, I think haha. Thanks again, Sarge.

Ahh, thank you! Is it okay that I submitted my AOS paper work with my new last name despite having no record of it aside from our marriage certificate? Philadelphia is one of the places you don't sign the certificate with your new married name, so our certificate still has my maiden name and I planned on changing it at SSA office. I am sure I have read here in the past that others have used their married name, so I felt secure doing it. I also included my maiden name as previous names on the form.

Yes when you applied via your AOS you should use your married name that way when your cards are produced they use your name you submitted.

Then your are double good to go. You can replenish that 1225.00 you just forked over!!!!!

Hi @Sarge2155, what does it mean to replenishing the $1,225? Does that mean we can get back that money in some circumstances regarding insurance? If yes, under which circumstances?

Thank you!

Nooooo I was just funning with @TandClaudia

As he had stated before that the 1225 had hurt his wallet earlier. He stated he had gotten a check recently so I said good you can replenish your 1225. LOL. Loosen up, slow down this stuff will stress you if you let it.

Yep!  I got an unexpected check for $34.57 from my car insurance company, an unexpected bonus from work for $250, and I found a quarter on the ground when I went to go vote today.

Now I just need to find a way to make up for the other $940.18.  😆😆
