Our congressman is very anti-immigration. So much so that he uses words like "radical left" to describe any opposition to the border wall. He supports the abolition of sanctuary cities, voted to fund the wall, and voted in favour of the anti-asylum movement. The only involvement he's had in immigration has been to stop immigration.

Somehow, I don't think he'll care too much.

I also sent letter to my congressman one month ago, no answer.

Not yet , i submitted my request to ombudsman and one week now no reply yet

I also reached out to senator and ombudsman about a month ago.

No reply from ombudsman, and senator got the typical bs reply from USCIS. Though USCIS said they expect to schedule my case within 30 days, and if that didn't happen my senator can reach out again. It will have been 30 days tomorrow.

Did you submit online form for ombudsman?

Yup.

And I guess I did receive a reply from them, just nothing helpful yet. I submitted the online form on 8/13. This is what they sent me on 8/26:

Dear Sir or Madam,

The Ombudsman's Office has reviewed your request for case assistance and contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regarding your application/petition.

We will notify you when we receive information from USCIS.

I submitted on 7 September and only got this initial submissio reply:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for submitting a request for case assistance to the Ombudsman’s Office.  A copy of information you shared with us is below, for your records.  We will review your submission to determine how our office may assist.  If we are unable to help, we will notify you promptly.

Yeah, that's the same email I got right after submitting.

So based on my timeline it seems like it takes then about 2 weeks to review your request. And then who knows how long to hear something from USCIS...

Yesterday i talk with uscis tier 1 staff and she told me to wait till 90 days, so it means it is useless to talk uscis before 90 days. I dont know what magic they will do if 90 days are over haha

Yeah, my 90 days are up in a month. So I hope I can expect a magic appointment right on Monday, October 19th at 9am, yes?

Haha man, back in late July I truly thought there was no way we'd actually have to wait 90 days. But here we are now, 57 days after reopening and counting...

Wow I’m sorry guys. We live in New York and our congressperson was extremely helpful. We got biometrics scheduled within 3 days. Really sad that your representatives are not acting as your representatives.

On the "plus" side -- I'm sure you've all noticed that processing times for the I-765 at NBC are back to normal (if 5.5-7.5mo can even be accepted as "normal") and they're back up to Feb 01, 2020 PD as the inquiry date.

Some of us might be able to file an outside processing times inquiry in the next few weeks!

Yeah, thank God. That makes the waiting much easier to bear.

But also, not to be a downer, but I filed an outside processing times inquiry about my I-131 on 8/21 and its still not even been assigned for processing. Even though they said to expect a reply by 9/12...

Didn’t u apply for AP (Advanced Parole) along with EAD? I think the processing time of AP is 5 months.

Not  yet, our lawyer recommended that its useless at best but he was planning to file for us at the 6 month mark but of course that's the day the processing times changed to 28.5 months. I'm waiting for 9/21 to file it as that will mark 7 months since starting the process and would be 2 months since we received last communication of action on our case

Each state has multiple congressmen and sometimes senators, did you try the others? I reached out to 3 in total and got response from 1.

Please update us when you receive SSN card!

i applied for mine, and have had my card for 2 weeks and EAD approved since 08/21 but never received SSN. Looks like they didn’t apply one for me even if i checked yes on the forms.

i had to call my local SSA office to ask for an appointment, they are still closed to the public and only take appointments.

Looks like USCIS didn’t request one for me as well. Although i also checked the box from the form during my ead application. I called the local SSA office to verify and they don’t have my information. I had to apply for a ssn by sending the forms and copy of my Ead card via mail.
