Good Morning,

My "Case Tracker" app sent an update this morning stating that Claudia's EAD and AP were approved on 8/18/2020.  This is weird, because we received an approval notice via mail on 7/27/2020.  The USCIS website shows no updates.

USPS informed delivery shows a letter from USCIS.  I wonder if this is the new biometrics appointment letter?

Maybe we will get super lucky and it will be her cards.

Spoiler

Yeah I enquired like as soon as I got my ssn but idk perhaps its the branch thats just weird. They said i needed photo id in my married name which i mean what if i didnt take my husbands name like what then lol ill ask in other banks since u mentioned you could do it without even an ssn

I went to Bank of America, thinking they might be experienced with international transfers and such (not really as it turns out, but they have a nice banking app which is handy) and there was no problem to open my accounts. And I'm in exactly that situation: Didn't change my name so my husband's and my last name are different. They didn't care at all. I figured all banks were like that, guess not since you ran into trouble. Good luck finding a bank that doesn't give you any grief for not fitting the mold exactly!

you can still try to expedite without biometric, I request expedite request without biometric and USCIS granted the request and approved my I765 on July

thats very interesting, I tried expediting before my biometrics reappointment and got denied because of no biometrics with the explanation that I was free to request expedite again after biometrics had been added to the system. This was about a month ago

Sigh . . about a month ago I applied to a job, thinking that our EAD would be approved by now. No EAD, and this morning woke up to a positive response from the job asking to move forward in the process. It's not my dream job or anything, but it pays well for the field and would really help us out. Salt to the wound, I guess.

If things were the way they should be I would be congratulating you on the job offer. What crazy times where getting a job makes us sad :(

Good morning everyone!

I'm torn: Do you think trying to expedite my EAD right now, before having had biometrics is worth it, or should I not even bother? I plan on requesting to expedite it anyway - because as we all agree, who can wait 28 - 37 months - but I don't know if I should just wait for my biometrics and then make request. Whenever that'll be...

I know @amyS, you said it worked for you right? Did you have crazy good documentation or sth? I was thinking of sending my furlough notice, now expired  OPT EAD, and maybe a bank statement as proof.

Oh wow! This is a game changer, I’m going to call them tomorrow and let you guys know. Thank you!

@amyS Did you have any previous biometrics taken?

I never did biometric in any ASC before I sent expedite request, my lawyer called USCIS request an expedite base on server financial loss because I have a job offer , and they said they will get  back to us in two weeks, after about a week my I765 and I131 got approved at the same time the expedite request shows complete. USCIS didn't even ask me to send any support document, we were ready to fax offer letter, my diploma and all the supporting documents. So I think it worth trying to expedite, good luck !

Yeah my lawyer called USCIS ask expedite request(she owns all the credit ) , and on the phone they gave us a request number and said will get back to us in two weeks, and after one week mine got approved, so I didn't actually send in my supporting documents. Mine supporting documents are job offer letter, a cover letter explaining why I need to expedite(reason for expedite, monthly spending, my education background, future job description), a transcript and my diploma. Hope this helps

March 24th filer here. Wish me luck folks, I have my biometrics tomorrow. Was very excited, before my landlord served me with eviction papers last evening, for no fault. I have been living in US for 5 years before I lost my job in September 2019 as my employer messed up my work visa extension. We managed to survive in California Bay Area with my wife's (US Citizen) meagre salary but she lost her job due to Covid in April. I lost all my savings, including 401K and have a mountain of debt. We have moved to 4 different temporary housing since September 2019 due to our poor financial situation and in May 2020 we thought we finally found a place where the landlord understood our situation. We have been dealing with Covid and the delay in processing my AOS it has caused, but yesterday we were devastated to see eviction filed on us as we couldn't pay rent for august and claimed non-payment of rent citing eviction moratorium. Unfortunately we are on month to month lease, though we verbally agreed we could stay here until one of us find a job (we explained our situation to landlord  before signing the lease and were assured we could stay here until my EAD arrives). We don't know if the law is on our side as we can't afford an attorney. We have reached out to non profit orgs but haven't received any help yet. Processing delays from USCIS has put us in a situation of eviction and inability to defend our case. I hope such situation never occur to any immigrant or a sponsoring spouse. I still have faith in America and its judicial system and am gonna give my best to fight the eviction case but I sincerely hope USICS approves my EAD sooner so I can afford to continue my fight

So sorry this happened to you... Hoping and praying you’ll get your EAD soon! Have you tried calling to request for an expedite?

Let us know how it goes! I tried to expedite mine. Sent bank statements and paystubs of my husband to show that he has reduced hours but got denied. It’s weird because I’ve seen cases where they approved someone due to the amount of money they’re losing if they have a job. We’re actually losing money and we got denied. Hopefully you’ll get approved! I’ll definitely try again.
