Hey guys, im a March filer but I follow this topic because everyone is very active and responsive. :)
My interview is scheduled for my AOS in September. Once I get approved, (assuming and hoping I will), does this mean I can just work or do I still have to wait for the EAD?

My ASC is Kansas City so maybe its not as slow or packed here..

Normally you have to wait until you have the card in hand

My ASC is Kansas City and I filed Feb and nothing, no biometrics, nothing. I'm not K1 but I'm AOS. I thought it'd go faster too for being "small" but...

Im not good at this lol. I thought sometimes or normally you get this stamp which would allow you to work until you have the Greencard in hand.

Does this mean you also still need the EAD? I thought the EAD was in the meantime until the Greencard was approved?

USCIS got people saying prayers to USPS informed delivery...

Lol if only my informed delivery worked properly -- i get nothing for weeks (even though we're still receiving mail) and then randomly an email about a random piece of junk mail will come through. Absolute silliness.

02/22/20 -- AOS package (I-130/I-485/I-864/I-765/I-131) sent to USCIS

02/25/20 -- Package delivered to Chicago Lockbox

03/17/20 -- Cheques cashed and text messages received

03/20/20 -- Received NOAs in the mail (I-130/I-486/I-765/I-131)

05/04/20 -- Received I-693 courtesy letter

10/11/20 -- Received biometrics notice (finally! Yay!)

10/21/20 -- Biometrics (I485/I765 Code 3, I-131 Code 2 in Hartford, CT)

10/23/20 -- Biometrics applied to all cases (I-485/I-765/I-131)

10/27/20 -- Case ready to be scheduled for an interview (location unknown 😅)

11/12/20 -- Second biometrics appointment (I-131, Code 2, in Pittsburgh, PA)

01/20/21 -- I-765 Expedite Request Submitted

01/29/21 -- I-765 Expedite Request Approved

02/01/21 -- I-765/I-131 Approved

02/16/21 -- Interview was Scheduled

02/17/21 -- Interview confirmed to be scheduled at the wrong FO, request to reschedule interview initiated

03/16/21 -- Interview cancelled, entered into scheduling queue for the correct FO

05/14/21 -- Interview rescheduled

06/25/21 -- Interview completed in Pittsburgh, approved on the spot 🙏❤️

Sorry I didn't mean to confuse you further:

The EAD is meant to tide you over until you receive the greencard. The EAD comes as a card (usually as a combocard with AP-advanced parole if you requested that too). So I was talking about the EAD card, not the greencard: Normally you need to wait until you have the EAD card in hand before you can legally start working.

And I said "normally" because right now everything is such a mess, who knows how the rules might change in the coming days and weeks 🤪

An acquaintance of mine that's also filing in Pittsburgh received his biometrics notice in the mail today for 08/31 and 09/02, so hopefully ours is on the way soon. My anxiety is that our mailing address is in CT due to having so many issues receiving mail at our PA address, and my in-laws are on vacation this week. So .. I'm really hoping the letter doesn't come and we miss the date.

Sorry, I should add that they're also a February filer, which is why it's relevant here!

that which can go wrong, will go wrong... No neighbors you could call and ask to check the mailbox for you or something like that?

The mailbox was checked last night (no UCSIS mail), and they'll be home Saturday so -- at this point the only way we could really miss the appointment is if it comes today for tomorrow.  And.. what are the odds that that happens, right? 😅

To add to the confusion -- the I-131 doesn't allow for a separate mailing address and physical address. Our I-485/I-765 appointment would go to them and the I-131 would (hopefully) go to our PA address (judging by the way the NOAs went).

Hahaha thank you for this info! Yes im also confused because I havent received any status update on my EAD, the last one is fingerprints added. Im confused because I already have my Greencard interview in less than a month and I thought usually you get the EAD first.😂

Congratulations on the interview! You probably posted about it earlier and I missed it -- theres sometimes so many posts to read through all at once if you aren't able to check for a day or two.

Best of luck to you two!!! ❤️

Apparently in KC it's normal to get the green card before the EAD.
