I sent it August 7th. The USPS guy told me it would be delivered on Tuesday. The letter got shipped out on Thursday.

Okay, thank you. Please update us with the biometrics date when you get the mail today. I feel like even if I sent it out today, I probably wouldn't get a date in August anymore. Guess I waited too long

But good luck yours is soon and congrats!

Maybe not a bad idea to send it today via next day air?  It will cost $30 but maybe is worth it?  I obviously have no clue what works and what does not because we are in the "skipped because we are reschedules" conundrum that so many February filers unfairly are.  I don't have the answers, but we are throwing everyone against the wall in a last ditch effort to get this appointment before they close down for the year.

That's not a bad idea, thank you. If it gets me in asap, it's worth the extra 30 bucks. The other thing is that tier 3 callback I'm waiting for. But sounds like they can't really help us either, so maybe that's the best option.

It's such a messed up situation, I hope one of your strategies for you work as well you'll get in asap!

If the Tier 3 can make some magic today, that is great.  Have them send you the PDF to the appointment via email since the Post Office slowdown means it won't arrive in time.  If they can't make anything happen then your last ditch reschedule effort is on the way already as a back-up precaution.  no clue if any of this works. Logic and fairness doesn't work, so I would try anything and everything.

Finally getting our appointment letter in the mail for next Monday. Really hoping to see more of those 5 day turnaround times like I've been seeing here and reddit.

Not quite, unfortunately.

I was actually approved earlier for EAD on July 15th, and had my biometrics taken after approval (August 10th).

I got the notification on August 15th that my card had been mailed out (most likely on August 14th).

A few of us here have been approved prior to biometrics being taken which has been a little confusing.

Did you have a separate appointment you had to take for a 131? Or did you even file for 131 (advanced parole)?

I did not file for a 131 (mainly because I was being lazy and wasn't planning on travelling when I filed).

Therefore no combo card for me, only the EAD.

  • 2020-02-14: Date Filed
  • 2020-02-19: NOA1
  • 2020-03-13: Biometrics appointment (Rescheduled due to conflict)
  • 2020-04-01: Biometrics appointment (Rescheduled due to COVID)
  • 2020-07-15: EAD approved (no biometrics taken)
  • 2020-08-10: Biometrics Appointment (Success)
  • 2020-08-20: EAD in hand
  • 2020-09-21: AOS Interview Scheduled
  • 2020-11-05: AOS Interview + Approval

Ah OK thanks for the info.

Really curious now if we need that separate appointment for 131 or not.

Anyone on here that 1) was approved for EAD and AP before biometrics appointment 2) got biometrics taken only for EAD (765) 3) did or did not get card shipped?

It's been a horrible year for us with immigration -- my OPT application was a mess, too (though it was USPS that did us in that time, not just USCIS). At this point, I've pretty much given up any resistance.. it'll happen when it happens, I guess. I'm very interested in the 180 day congress ruling that you found; I wonder if enough people learn about that if it could be the focus of the next class action?

Does anyone know if the ASC’s will be furloughed too?

There are a few different opinions floating around here -- they're independent contractors, so it's my personal opinion that they wouldn't be immediately affected, but maybe in the future. It's been pointed out that they're contracted by USCIS, which makes me believe that USCIS would have to honour the terms of the contract until its end. Others here are less optimistic, and I don't blame them. This process sucks and nobody really knows what's going to happen (not even USCIS).

On a positive note, I did read an article today that said that there is increasing pressure on the senate to postpone their recess to address the USPS funding and stimulus talks (which included the USCIS funding).
