rules are all over the place. if she is filing from K1 most likely they need to complete biometrics

Unfortunately, you might have wondered into the private Hell so many of us are experiencing.  The "approvals" do not have teeth without the card.  You can't get the card without biometrics.  Biometrics reschedules were skipping February filers because NEW schedules were being prioritized when the ASC offices opened (the ones where you get biometrics).  Now, Congress has recessed without a deal until after Labor Day.  As a result, customs offices will close again on September 1st.  It's hard to imagine getting a biometrics appointment in the next two weeks before they close again.  Hopefully this isn't the case for you, but it's the negative feedback loop many of us are stuck in here.

Good morning and congrats to everyone who got good news!

Quick side question: @James120383, you mentioned in a post a couple of days ago, that you had asked for a Tier 2 supervisor, correct? How was your experience with that? Is it worth asking for one? Trying to prepare for all possible outcomes when I get my callback in 1,465 minutes 🙆‍♀️

when you speak to level 2... and get blah blah blah replies. ask to speak to a supervisor. they are supposed to be level 3.  lately iam seeing that level 2 say they will transfer you to supervisor and they hang up. good luck though

my experience with all the levels are - basic garbage level service.  none of them want to resolve the issue. they just read a canned response. some folks do listen to you but you get back to the same answer. issue never gets resolved.

Unfortunately, it's reported everywhere.  Here's USA Today and Forbes. Congress recessed until after Labor Day without a stimulus deal.  The funding for USCIS was wrapped into that bill.  2/3 of customs is shutting down and furloughed on August 31st. There could be surprise on the stimulus bill in the next two weeks, so let's watch that closely and hope for the best . . .

Yikes, hopefully I'll be on the phone with someone who's actually trying to help... I guess if Tier 2 turns out useless, I might as well ask for a supervisor, and just be pleasantly surprised if they actually connect me haha.

Thanks for your advice!

Getting a little concerned... our appointment notice was generated on Monday, but we've yet to get it in the mail and it's not in today's informed delivery...

@James120383is exactly right.  It's really a matter of how personable and fluid the customs officers are at reading the script.  Some clearly read word-for-word.  Others sound like they are saying something new, but then it's really them riffing off the script.  The real answer is they don't know.  Maybe some don't care.  Mostly, they are stuck in a cumbersome bureaucracy with anitiquated systems that don't make sense to them either.  Also, remember you are talking to a human who is looking at being furloughed from his or her job in two weeks, so they probably have other, more pressing concerns than worrying about us.

Update: just got off the phone with an agent and she informed me that our appointment was generated on August 11 and we should be receiving a notice with when/where/time for the biometrics! Such good news! 🥳

I called them and asked to speak to Tier 2 agent on the day they scheduled me and she was able to send me the Appointment notice on my email within 5 minutes after the phone call. Tier 1 said that they are unable to do this but you can try.

This is awesome news!  Were they able to confirm the appointment is for August?  If the appointments comes in for September they are useless if the offices are closed as planned.

You may be able to ask the pdf copy of your biometric appointment letter, and my experience (I'm not saying my experience can be generalized.) is that it takes 1 week these days so that you probably will get the physical letter by next Monday, I  guess.
