They definitely didn’t do this before so it must be a new process post re-opening. My best guess is that they did this to probably lessen the calls they’ve been getting since they want to go full bureaucratic... oh, sorry, did I say bureaucratic? I meant to say automated.

i say annoy the heck out of them. if you can , call 10 times a day. they are wasting everyone's time with scripted nonsense that even they know is nonsense.  USCIS has become from average to extreme poor performance zombie organization. This was never an issue under Obama.

I was just chatting with a live representative through the Emma help function, and they told me that my biometrics has been scheduled. Before I get too excited, is this a generic response so I don't bug them anymore or did I actually get scheduled??

First very generic:
"You should receive the appointment notice within 30 days from the date the office reopened. If you haven't received the notice by 08/20/20 you can contact us again."
Me: "I understand, but are you able to see in your system whether it has been scheduled or not? I know that sometimes it can take up to a week from when the biometrics is actually scheduled until an appointment letter is received."
Officer: "It appears the appointment has been scheduled. The notice hasn't been mailed yet."
Me: "That's fantastic news! So I could expect a letter in the mail sometime soon then?"
Officer: "If you haven't received the notice by 08/20 you can contact us again."
Me: "Are you able to see the date for which it has been scheduled?"
Officer: "Unfortunately not."
Me: "Ok, but you are able to confirm that it indeed has been scheduled?"
Officer: "Yes, the appointment has been scheduled , it just hasn't been mailed out yet."

Thoughts??

I believe it has been scheduled, just the notice hasn’t been sent yet. It will reflect on their end when that notice is sent once it’s sent out. I believe @MIBogdan had the same experience. He will be able to probably have more insights on this.

Most of us are stuck in that queue where the reschedule had been “ordered” but the actual rescheduling has not taken place yet. So that’s definitely good news. 😊

It's on the way. I had same story - called them July 21, they told me it was scheduled on July 17 but "not mailed yet". Letter arrived on July 24 - it is no way a regular letter will make it from Missouri to Pennsylvania in less than 3 days

Spoke to rep today:

New spin news: So now USCIS has told the call center that they can open a service request about biometrics appointment if you didn't receive a biometrics date after 40 30 days on ASC being opened in your local area.

Biometrics are assigned by one large center in Alexandria Virginia and i think they are playing Russian roulette and assigning bio metrics appointments based on a zig zag pattern

This is the address i found on USCIS that does Biometrics assignment. Any one in Alexandria, Virginia that can find contact info to reach them ?

Biometrics Processing Unit (BPU)
Alexandria ASC
8850 Richmond Hwy, Suite 100
Alexandria, VA 22309-1586

That's what I am hoping! Unfortunately, I forgot to ask when it was rescheduled, but hopefully she didn't lie to make me go away. Telling me that I am rescheduled is a pretty effective way to get me to stop asking questions!

If I don't receive the letter in a week, I'll contact them again. Cautiously excited, but don't trust them. Also maybe I got rescheduled for September!?

They already opened a service request for us abased on my wife now being out of work. Not sure what good it''s going to do -- it's just sitting in the case as

..., your Fingerprints/Biometrics, referral number XXXX, is currently not assigned for processing.

Can you share how you’re checking the status of your referral ID online? They just told me that I will know what went on via an email response.

My referral ID from my service request is viewable on my case status tool under "next steps". You may need to log in to the case status tracker.

I know a user on reddit that has an invite for August 23 so getting something for September will not surprise me much

I guess any date is better than no date.

Feel for all of you who are still fighting to get an appointment!! I refiled in March so I should have been a month after most of you. Not a fair process! I am just one of the lucky ones (hopefully). Hope all of you get some good news soon!

Honestly I never followed any first-timers, only the ones that are re-scheduled
