February 2020 AOS Filers

New and somewhat shocking information. My friend has completed his re-scheduled biometrics on July 24 (ASC Philadelphia, original date March 19). Then he came back home, only to discover another set of USCIS envelopes for yet another round of biometrics, now for a later date in August. We did some cross-checks with him (my biometric invites are consistent with his own) and discovered that the first round is for EAD + AOS. Second round is for AP!!!! Why???

I just checked my original biometric invite from March 2020 - it is the same, only for AOS + EAD. However my other friends that got their GCs in 2019 and early 2020, they never went for biometrics twice, and they did get combo EAD/AP cards. Potentially a process change that happened late February?

the whole biometrics thing is a big joke. Almost all immigrants have finger prints from port of entry. They can use them and make the process faster but yeah they have  to screw everyone with delays and make people go crazy

duh

It's more another glitch in the system. They'll probably get another update and another letter that your biometrics were applied to your AP case in the next two weeks.

It's not just the fingerprints. It's also the signature and the picture and they want that to be up to date. Some people might have entered months or even years before applying for AOS.

that makes no sense. people send photos and signature with their application.  None of those change.

duh

I don't say that it makes sense, you're right about that. It's just that my picture and signature on the EAD are the ones taken at the biometrics appointment and not what I sent in.

exactly. i did not have my biometrics but still got EAD/AP with the picture that i sent out. So the whole photo/Signature/Finger print is just a waste of time for 90 percent of applicants. That step does nothing except maybe for those who came here like 50 years ago and now are applying for immigration benefits. The whole system need to be gutted and replaced.

duh

They need to make sure you're really the person sending the application. If someone wanted to get a fake green card to someone else, they would just send a fake picture and signature, have their interview waived somehow and that's it.

They can't use the fingerprint from POE. The picture needs to be a certain way as well.

So it does make sense to have it taken at a ASC.

My husband did his biometrics back in March - it was the same for him.. we ended up getting another letter in the mail saying they were going to just apply his biometrics to AP (which they did).

Hi All,

Do we have any cases so far of folks having case processed by NBC that have had 765 approved that

1) have had an EAD card sent or

2) biometrics rescheduled

From what i can tell, it's folks who haven't had approval yet that are getting rescheduled, but maybe I'm wrong.

Yes, same thing here for me, i got a letter 5 days after i done my biometrics in March.  They will reuse previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics and in BOLD, “it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Center for a biometrics appointment”

i hope this helps or clear out the confusion?🤷‍♂️
