I think it will be part of it. We have an SSN because my wide was working on OPT and has been in the country for many years on F1

Got it.  Maybe they have her fingerprints for SSN?  Maybe that's why she was able to skip biometrics for EAD?  Since she already was working?

Just got off with a very nice officer who told us to just keep checking the computer and to wait for ASC offices to open for biometrics.

I wouldn't give up hope. They weren;t able to tell us we were waived until we were actually approved!

I would call monday and sign up for mobile alerts.

Sorry if I am asking so many questions. How did you get the SSN without the other these other things approved?  Is that a separate application?  We were thinking the SSN was part of this whole processs.  Yikes!

I didn't get the SSN yet. I applied for it in the application, So I am waiting just like you.

Some updates for you.

We called USCIS at 1PM today and as we were on the phone I got a text saying there was a status change-- our 765 was approved!

On the call we asked about biometrics and were told "it looks like they are bypassing them" for the EAD card!

This is fantastic news. Now we wait for printing, which I pray isn't too long...

congrats and thank you for sharing this awesome news!!!

We are also in San Diego, and our original biometrics appointment was also on Mar 18!  I hope I can soon get my EAD approved!

I think we're on a very similar timeline. I would check next week for sure. Best of luck and I also hope you get EAD soon. Not being able to work is terrible, especially with COVID there is nothing to do :(

Quick update from my end as well - I was hoping I’d get lucky and be able to jump the biometrics as some of you already did. Just got a note from my lawyers that they received the new notice for my biometrics appointment today.

For some reason they’re having me do it in San Francisco, although I was initially scheduled for Salt Lake City - no idea why!

Guess any news is better than no news. Good luck everyone!

That's quite a drive?! Can I ask-- what was your original date?

it really seems like were just "waived". We are not military and have never applied or had wet fingerprints. I was a little surprised. I am hoping they told me correctly but she said the card was being produced.

This is fantastic!! Hopefully the card is actually in the production line. There are few previous cases were people have gotten approved without biometrics (for various reasons), but after months, they are still waiting for the card. Hopefully they are stopping that practice!

Keep us updated :)
