Another one on EAD process and wait times

I only applied for my EAD in November so I’m not expecting to receive it any time soon. But although I got the NOA within the expected timeframes, I’ve heard nothing since. I would have thought I should have heard about a biometric appointment by now, but nothing. So I’m getting a bit edgy about that. I’m assuming that all applicants must go for a biometrics appointment but I have no idea if my assumption is correct...

It’s frustrating because it seems like I can’t get my CT driver’s license without a SSN (and SSN application is linked through EAD) so I’m just like to check that there is nothing else I should be doing / could be doing while all this plods along.  Otherwise I’ll just wait (im)patiently in limbo!
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

If you look here https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/eadstats.php It will give you an idea of the timelines. The wait does seem to be getting shorter, not by months but weeks over the past few months.

Do you not have your home based driving license you can use (may be good for up to a year concurrent usage), unless you want it for something other than driving.
