Has anyone gotten a certified Copy of Pakistani Passport  (for IRS form W7) at Karachi Consulate recently ( or not so recently)?

What's the process?

I asked my wife to call them ( she hasn't yet ). However, it'd be nice to hear from someone who got it done in Karachi or any other Pakistani Consulate.

1. Make an appointment at link below

https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=KRC&appcode=1

2. Print appointment letter to take with you on appointment date.

3. Take original  passport & Pakistani ID with you

4. They charge $50 per stamp you can pay with USD or PKR but their exchange rate is around RS-/165

See stamp sample below

Thanks for the response. The website says US citizen services. Does a US citizen have to accompany the Pakistani spouse?

Also, did you bring a photocopy of just the biographical page or the whole passport?

I'll have her send them to me via DHL. I understand there is a risk of documents getting lost. However, I don't know anyone traveling to the US within the next month or so.

What about you? Do you have a friend or relative bringing carrying the documents for you? Or are you using a courier service as well?

Makes sense. I don't plan on traveling back before April or I would have done the same.

@M.Hamza I followed the steps above to get a certified copy of wife's Passport. I was in the US and was able to complete the rest of the process here (mailing the W7).

I don't think the US Consulate in Karachi acts as an acceptance agent. You'll have to fill the W7 yourself and they can stamp the copy of your passport and W7 for a fee.

Thanks for you reply Sir. Will they also stamped on my W-7 form ?

after that i only have to mail my documents and w-7 form?

I don't remember if they stamped the form or not. However, I do remember them signing the W7 form.

In my particular situation, mailing the form was all I had to do. You might want to look up the instructions for the form W7 to see if you need to do something different based on your situation https://www.irs.gov/instructions/iw7
