IRS keep rejecting my spouse info saying error in either name or SSN. What to do now ? Should I just paper file ? Our interview is next month & would like to file it prior.

Mine did that too. I know about 4 weeks ago we went to social security to change her name. So what I did to correct ours was, I put her maiden name first and than her new last name. It finally accepted it. For example, let’s say her maiden name was Smith and her new last name is Jones. I tried entering Jones first, but that didn’t work. So I went in and wrote Smith Jones as her last name and it took that.

Oh and I’m not saying that’s correct either, but the IRS finally accepted the return.

IRS finally accepted ours. I put his middle name & last name (social security only has half of his last name on the card ) as written on SSN as his last name & got accepted
