There wasn’t even a need for deduction.  Two different posters, using two different wordings, explicitly told OP they could choose to retain F2B even if parent naturalizes. I’m not sure how to make it more clear than that.

No such thing as a wife without getting married.

You can sing with anybody willing. Have fun.

Conversion from F2B to F1 due to the petitioner becoming a US citizen is not a unique situation. You can either choose to keep F2B classification, or it will automatically convert to F1. Those are the options.

If you have a wife then you don't qualify for F2B and the petition will die.

If you have a partner/significant other and plan to marry after getting the green card, then you're fine.

Using the term "wife" when you are unmarried is likely to cause trouble if you are required to remain single.

Your son can be a derivative on your F2\F1 application. It is only the wife, when she “officially” become a wife, that you would need to sponsor separately. If your parent naturalizes by the way then it is ok for you to be married after that, your wife can then be a derivative and then you could all immigrate together on an F3 visa; it would take a few years longer though.

if you sponsor your wife separately after you get a green card, it will take about two years after that for her to be able to come, you will need to meet minimum income requirements, etc.  Some families prefer one to get a green card as soon as possible, but others would prefer it to take longer and all immigrate together.

If you go to your interview and say you have a "wife" even unofficially you are giving them great reasons to deny you

As was stated, you and your son will be able to immigrate. Your girlfriend, however, will not. You will need to first immigrate and then you will need to marry her and then you can petition. You are looking at it taking a least two years AFTER you petition until she can get a visa.
