Feb 28th here, and the US embassy in Ireland just updated their website to say they won't be scheduling interviews for K1 visas... ☹️

I looked to see if I could locate the information source you were referring to and I did not find it. So, a link would be helpful.

In response to significant worldwide challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of State temporarily suspended routine visa services at all U.S. embassies and consulates. All routine visa processing at U.S. Embassy Dublin is remains suspended.  We are only able to process visas for spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens (IR-1, CR-1, IR-2 or CR-2) in limited circumstances.  We are, therefore, unable to proceed with fiancé(e) visa applications (K-1) at this time. We are taking the issue of fiancé(e) visas seriously and we will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.

If your application is being processed by the Embassy in Dublin, applicants are given 12 months from the date on which the Embassy’s Immigrant Visa Unit writes to them with instructions about the status of their case in which to apply for the visa.

If you have been advised that your case file has been forwarded to the Embassy in Dublin, you may refer to our website for an overview of the application procedure and begin compiling the necessary supporting documents. You may book a medical appointment once they are ready to accept appointments and proceed with the application process after normal operations have resumed. Please check this website regularly for updates about visa services and travel.

If the fiancé(e) visa petition expires, you may revalidate the petition with a letter from the petitioner stating that you both remain legally free to marry and that you will do so within 90 days of your arrival in the United States. You should take the letter with you to your visa interview in the future, not mail it or email it to the Embassy.

K-1's are only on hold for the time being until they can get through the backlog of "family" visas like CR-1's. Once they adjudicate and clear the backlog then they will move to K-1's. There really isn't anything new as this scenario has been reported throughout VJ. Keep you finger on the pulse of your embassy and you will see it begin to open I would imagine in about 45 to 60 days for K-1s.

Ok, great! Thank you for the reassurance - fingers crossed. Its hard not to panic/get downhearted when its written out as previous.

We received an RFE tonight. I have no idea what it could be as I've followed the forum and thought I did everything to the letter. I'll keep the forum updated.

It was an RFIE. Request for Initial Evidence. Is that any different?

Technically speaking, an RFE is a written request for more information and documentation that USCIS mails out if they believe that they don’t yet have enough evidence to approve or deny a given application. An RFE normally is a minor item and should not be looked at like it's a denial but an opportunity for you to complete your application. USCIS would not send out an RFE if they were going to deny your application. It's just a step that they must take and once they have your information and it meets their approval then you should be seeing your NOA2.

There are many varying degrees of RFE's. Some as simple as not "ticking" off a question. Others forgot the fiancé(e) letter and then others who met on a website and now need to prove that it wasn't a marriage arrangement website.

Once you get your RFE, read over very carefully as you only have one chance to reply accurately without causing undue harm. Once you know FROM THE RFE what it is set out to correct and to include "everything" they are asking for. Then reread the RFE to ensure you are compliant. Make copies of everything for your record and send back using their instructions which are contained within the RFE. If the RFE requires a signature, PLEASE don't forget this. Include the original RFE letter along with a cover letter explaining what you are including in your reply. Like a checklist format. Once received at USCIS your case will begin adjudication where the agent had left off. No one can tell you how long it will take so be patient.
