3 weeks 🥴 we've yet to do the medical, working on getting that done tomorrow or friday. Strange because the office is telling him to do his vaccinations elsewhere and then come back to them.

Congrats! This is wonderful news!!! They just emailed you randomly out of the blue huh? Do you know of any other Chilean K1 filers? Did they get the same like you? When was your case ready at embassy? Congrats again!!

Thank you!!!!! Yes. Out of the blue. They had dates available today, and tomorrow, but that was way too soon. The others seem to have been given similar choice in dates as well. Case was ready at the embassy march.

Hello,

February 13th 2020, we received an email from US embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE that they received our case.

Unfortunately, we did not schedule the interview immediately because we were waiting on a Police Report.

We received the Police Report right around COVID started. Then, embassies closed.

I am writing here to see if anyone has heard any updates from embassies in UAE? Do we know when they might start working on K-1 visas? Do i have an edge knowing that embassy has our case?

The vagueness, ambiguity and lack of information from these Embassies is really frustrating. I understand we need to wait, but it has been several months.

Thanks

I am with you on that frustration!

My case arrived at the Embassy 4/6/20 and hasn't even been acknowledged.

It makes NO SENSE that Embassies are allowed to independently decide which visas they pick and choose for processing!  If they are open, process them ALL according to the dates they are received.

Check to see if your embassy is processing visas and which ones. If your results return 999 that indicates that they are still not processing that visa type. Your mileage may vary.

Do we know when they might start working on K-1 visas? According to a State Department spokesperson, 97 overseas posts are in Phase I and 35 are in Phase II of reopening. Under Phase I of the department's reopening plan, "Diplomacy Strong," up to 40% of "non-vulnerable employees" may be brought back, and under Phase II, 40% to 80%, according to an overview of the plan. Currently the are processing student visas for the new school year and also CR-1's. K-1's will be sprinkled in with most coming a little while later.

Do i have an edge knowing that embassy has our case? It doesn't matter knowing if your case is their or NVC. They have a system and rarely do they lose a record.

The vagueness, ambiguity, and lack of information from these Embassies is really frustrating. I understand we need to wait, but it has been several months. There is a pandemic and the concern for you and all those involved in your case are at stake here. This is not to be taken lightly.

Thanks

Wow. So much here to reply to. See my remarks in bold and links below to follow up on.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

The US Embassy in Ukraine has so far resumed:

  • CR-1 / IR-1 spousal visas
  • And now Student visas

How can they be prioritizing student visas over K1 visas?  How does it make any more sense for them to say they're prioritizing family based visa services and then turn around and start processing student visas?

I am generally laid back in this process, thinking 'it is what it is', but this is insulting.

Thanks.  I've seen you paste this a number of times over the past year.  I think we all understand these sentiments.  Do you ever consider that they might be dismissive of credible concerns?  What if I just wanted to share my frustrations and discuss with others who may have additional information?

I agree - its very dismissive and pretty callous in my opinion.

I'm sure it is meant to help temper the patience this process takes and  appreciate that sentiment, but how about a bit of compassion for those of us who are stuck in this limbo - none of which is routine at all or of our own making?

Hello all.
sorry I’ve seen Greenbaum on here for a few months and he goes out of his way to be helpful and assist in all that he can.

He has gone out of his way to be helpful whenever he can be. Please Don’t mistake his frankness, and reality-based suggestion as anything other than him being the voice of reason.

Our case has been stuck in the consulate since early March, and has a K1 applicant we are also suck with no Foreseeable movement

keep your hopes and spirits up

Please don't mistake my calling out his misjudgments for not understanding that he's a wealth of knowledge.

I failed to see my misjudgments. What I listed in my response was to counter your post of being insulted. I fail to see where this process is insulting. The rules and laws are set in place for you to follow if you want your visa. What you feel or what you think is right is not of concern to USCIS, NVC or your embassy. I point this out early so that you are not in front of the CO with an attitude as they will cut you down to size rather quickly and you won't like the outcome. I don't sugarcoat my answers to your questions or concerns. I am straightforward and factual. I back up my replies with links to vital information that eases your journey. Take it or leave it.

Since you feel you're being misunderstood by me, as this is what you seem to be advocating, then I will use my years of experience of helping so many get a visa and spread it to those who will use it to their advantage. Good luck and stay engaged.
