@Greenbaum Hi, I was having a similar issue with trying to upload the passport photo with the DS - 160. I got the chance to resize it but then it mentioned something about the color settings of the photo. I'm not too sure how to work that, so my fiance & I thought we would just submit the application and just bring the physical copy of the passport photo to the interview since its required anyways. Do you think we should still try and upload the photo online?

Hi,  please ensure you upload the passport while filling ds160 form.

We're still being told they don't have the physical copy at the embassy even though the CEAC shows a ready status.  It also shows a case update yesterday.  I never got the DHL hack to work and have asked the NVC to track the package.  It went to in transit on 31 March and the embassy identified having received the electronic version on 1 April.  Until they have the physical copy we are on hold, everything else is done including the medical as of yesterday/today(?).  Now we wait, with any luck the physical copy will arrive and we will receive a notification very soon.

@Chad&Thalia @NewYorker14 Just thought to let you guys know about my update. NVC found my case. It has been sitting there in NVC for 29 days despite ceac states 'in transit'. They told us that it will be out the next shipment - perhaps today or tomorrow - I will be checking by calling DHL to verify that and that would be the fastest way to determine whether it make it out or not before the change of status on ceac.

@RyceryceI suspect that is the same thing that's going on with us.  The NVC was supposed to be tracking it, I will check tomorrow.  Best of luck to you!

@Chad&Thalia Yes call them tomorrow, if you can't reach them, use the online form to request your request (but it would take long for them to reply) . I thought I was the only one case that they "forgot" but looks like there's a handful of us. I hope your case makes it out this week's shipment. Keep us posted here.

Hey! How were you granted an expedited interview? I've heard of a few people doing it but wanted to check. Do you live in NSW? Also you just did your medical so they are still being processed?

I am not looking to apply right now but if it gets to the time I wanted to leave and no movement I might try.

If you are having problems uploading the picture, as you say you are, then submit the DS-160 and take the photo to your interview.

They attempted to upload the photo and they are experiencing problems. It is ok if they submit the DS-160 without the photo and take the photo to the interview. It's done all the time with no issues.

Uploading pix or carrying it along to the interview is always embassy specific. Emassy/Consulate in Nigeria require you upload it, but if it fails check your browser for flash add ons and try again as you do not have the option of submitting one during interview. In some other countries if it fails its OK to take it along to the interview.

You know, Nigeria is such a pain in the ..... It has happened more than once that people have problems with the photo either no fault of theirs or the fault of the system. It's such a small thing for the embassy to upload the photo for the applicant I just can't see why they can't do it. Nigeria will do what they say they will do so and will turn you away so, OP disregard my post. The man with the gold makes the rules. So true here it looks to be.

Hey @Ryceryce Thanks for the update. My fiance called the US embassy in Guyana and was told that they cannot give him any information because the embassy is closed and we should call NVC. I called NVC this morning and was told the case never left NVC and it will be shipped out when the embassy in Guyana is operating again. I wasn't told when that would be, if its the next shipment or not. This is very disappointing and frustrating news to find out one month after thinking that our case was en route to Guyana. So, I guess we are back to playing the horrid game of waiting and this time it is worse because no one knows when Covid-19 will ease up. Please keep me updated with your process and I will do the same.

Can I share somethings with you'll that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

Following up with the tracking request of the NVC, the physical case was never shipped.   Everything happened electronically on 31 March, the embassy acknowledged the electronic receipt on the 1st of April.  As instructed by the NVC representative, an email was sent with this information and the departments will take action once they have verified with the embassy that we were indeed granted an emergency interview.  Stay tuned...

Just a quick question to my fellow VJs,
My NOA2 due time is May 27th, and seeing that most embassies won't be open anytime soon, I contacted the Algerian embassy (IV-DValgiers@state.gov) about an extension but the response was so ambiguous.
Do any of you received the same, unconvincing response from the appropriate authorities?

The validity of the NOA2 is for four months. They want you to complete your visa processing at the consulate during that window. The reason is that they have thousands of approved applicants and they need to keep things moving along or they will back up if everyone decides they want to process in a particular month then the other months there are relatively few interviews. So, to keep things moving along they put a date on the NOA2. If for some reason, illness, death in the family or some other valid reason, your consulate can extend the visa at their discretion.

After downloading the pdf from the link on the first page, first post I read this in #28. See if there is anything else that will enlighten you and help in your journey.
