@Greenbaum Yes, done everything. I called and found out that there was a shipment delivered to the destination on specified date more than 2 weeks now. The call works as far as this could go. Not sure this is DHL issue or NVC but it did not show up on NVC tracking system. Our packet just 'disappeared' from NVC tracking system despite showing 'in transit'.

The file is probably at the embassy, and they have not opened for business, so everything is on hold till the return. I think you just need to give it time.

@Greenbaum The NVC tier 2 guy said it hasn't left the country. It is sitting somewhere (not sent out) and he doesn't know where. Also, the supervisor at the embassy has told us that it is not at the embassy. That's the most updated info in the last 12 hours.😔

I still think it's at the embassy waiting for the staff to return after all clear is sound for COVID.

@Ryceryce I just want to let you know that my case (got send out the same day as yours) is also "in transit". DHL hack did work on me, and I called DHL in Hong Kong to try track but couldn't find it. I totally understand it is pretty frustrating as my finace and I have been apart since the start of this crisis and we really wish to get through this process ASAP to be together.  However, I believe it will work out eventually and I also assume they will have electronic copy of it. We won't need to start over and there is someone like me in the same boat as you:)

@PM2020 @Greenbaum In any even when you are 'in transit' for "too long", you should be proactive finding out where your case is. We learned that it is sitting somewhere no one knows. When you reach out to the embassy and they tell you that is it not there, go back to NVC and ask them. NVC may try to tell you that it is out of their hands but speak to a supervisor. As the NVC will take up to 6 weeks to reply to you. Also, good to have write in using the online form to follow up for documentation purposes in case you need it to support you.

We are in a pandemic and the governmental offices and the embassies are running with a skeleton and in some cases are completely closed. Nothing much is going to run "normally" until this virus dissipates. There will be action announced closer to the opening of the embassies on how they will address those who had interviews scheduled and those who want to schedule an interview. Also, if you have a NOA2 about to expire there is no reason to panic or be concerned. That too will be addressed by the embassies once they are closer to opening. We are in a wait and see mode till the embassies start opening again. BTW, this is my opinion and that is the embassies will begin to open with those that are in a less affected area then move on to those in highly affected areas. I believe that the embassies will reschedule those that were cancelled and then open the schedule for those who are ready to receive an interview date. Best place to be tuned in to what will happen at the embassy level is to be on their webpage because that is where the announcement and further instructions will be posted.

For our case we are left in the dark since March 15th. I Tried to call and do everything possible but no help so far -- this is the effects of the Pandemic.

For your Embassy there is information here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Algeria&cty=Alger

The fiancé(e) K-1 nonimmigrant visa is for the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen. The K-1 visa permits the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) to travel to the United States and marry his or her U.S. citizen sponsor within 90 days of arrival. You can learn more about fiancé(e) visas on usvisas.state.gov.

  1. Once your file is received at post, an instruction package will be sent to you by email.
  2. First you need to pay the visa fee at one of Aramex offices, and then you have to register and schedule a K-visa appointment through the online appointment system at
    www.ustraveldoc.com/dz.
  3. Assemble the required documents that are listed on the instruction package.
  4. Schedule a medical examination with the Embassy-approved physician in Algiers at least 15 days before your visa interview
  5. If the visa is issued, your passport and documents will be available in approximately 7-10 business days at Aramex office that you already selected for pick up or delivery.
  6. If the visa is refused, the Consular Officer will provide you with further information.

A Military Certificate (with translation) or exempted notice is required at the interview.

Would they even start working on that when they reopen?

In response to significant worldwide challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of State is temporarily suspending routine visa services at all U.S. Embassies and Consulates. Embassies and consulates will cancel all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments as of March 20, 2020. As resources allow, embassies and consulates will continue to provide emergency and mission critical visa services. Our overseas missions will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.

That just makes it seem like, even if they do open, they won't actually process things again until after that's lifted at whatever date they land on.

It also seems that, even if they were to start again, people in the Schengen zone have to wait for that ban to get lifted before they even look at your application again.

That just makes it seem like, even if they do open, they won't actually process things again until after that's lifted at whatever date they land on. Well the ban is for 60 days at which time they will reevaluate the who to continue to ban and for how long. I doubt that CR-1 and K-1 will continue under any other ban. But that's just me talking.

It also seems that, even if they were to start again, people in the Schengen zone have to wait for that ban to get lifted before they even look at your application again. My opinion is that you are way out front and it's all crystal ball, hokes pokes, which hand is it in and how much do you want to bet.... Stay real and in the now. Your driving me crazy as well as yourself.

As the captain of the ship says, "steady as she goes."

*snip*

This is separate from the latest EO, the suspension of routine services happened on the 20th and the Schengen ban was announced as a 30 day ban, even though it wasn't in the actual proclamation, on March 11th. The ban is still in place because it wasn't an actual 30 day ban and no one asked about it because other things happened.

I mean, I'm just going to wait, there's not much else to do, but they're not related to the 60 day EO. :)

@Greenbaum

Should my fiance complete his DS-160 now even though the London embassy is closed?  We have our case number and our case status is listed as "Ready" on CEAC; however, we never received the Packet 3 letter from the embassy.  Anything else we can be doing in the meantime to ensure we are ready for interview once the embassy re-opens?

Thank you so much
