Grab that appointment as there will be a rush and you will only get pushed further and further in the year. Yes, you can change your appointment date if one opens earlier. You must cancel your current appointment then rush and grab the new one. It's a good idea to see that a date is open than cancel your appointment and schedule the new one. Don't waste time during the cancel and rescheduling as someone might grab that date before you. Some embassies will let you cancel and reschedule two times before they penalize you with another fee payment and 90 day waiting period before scheduling again.

I just logged into the usvisa-info website to see if appointments were available, and shockingly there is--but in August.  I am tempted to take it but was curious if anyone knows if I would be able to change the date if an earlier appointment comes up?  Does the website allow for this?  I'm specifically talking about the US Visa-Info website.  Thanks!

Our case arrived in Colombia at the same time but shouldn't we wait to receive packet from  the embassy before scheduling?

"Visa applicants/beneficiaries must wait to receive the packet of instructions before scheduling an appointment. The Embassy is not able to process your case before that."

@RV2019 I thought about this but decided not to wait as I had heard of others not waiting with no problems (even before the coronavirus situation), and because the available appointments are pretty far out-- August.  In fact, I checked today and the few open appointments are around August 13, so I am happy I picked the August 3 date when it was available.  To me, there is little downside to this--worst case scenario, they cancel my appointment and I'm essentially in the same situation as if I didn't pick one.  I just don't want to be in the back of the line when the floodgates open up after coronavirus.  Let me know what you end up doing, but my advice is to go ahead and pick a slot.  Just my 2 cents.

How long did it take from when you got the NOA1 to when you got the NOA2?

Trump was only proposing that he will. But it’s not certain yet when it would take effect.

Your viewpoint is well stated.
