Leaving this here, in case anyone else was wondering why they haven't been assigned a case number yet, even though it's long overdue.

Not that I was super into flying right after this anyway. 😛

Thanks for the link. This is very significant but under the circumstances I think prudent. It's kind of sad that the entire process is like a garden hose with USCIS on one end stopped and the embassies on the other end stopped but NVC in the middle trying to get water and to push water out. Baby, it just doesn't happen that way. Oy Vey.

So NVC is closed?

No it's not closed yet. What they will do is on each shift they will furlough enough people that they are down to a staff of 33 which they deemed reasonable and safe. There are about 159 staff members that will be furlough to meet this number. Nothing has been put in place at the time of the printing of this article, but according to the it will go into effect by Friday of last week. This will be the beginning of the shift changes..

Let's not jump in here and all start expressing how many days you been in lock-down. This is a forum to share ideas and experiences. Lock-down posts do nothing to add to the process. We are all experiencing some sort of inconvenience.

Anyone know where we could find a list of the remaining OPEN Embassies?

I feel like Korea will be over this sooner than others so now we are thinking about not completing the transfer to Russia.  Feels like Russia is just getting started on this CV19 thing so it's hard to get a good feeling about anything.

You can check their websites to determine their current status. Keep in mind that you must be a resident of the country you will interview in for a least 6 months.

a resident or a citizen.  But for tourist visa I thought anyone can apply at any (most) embassy.

But yeah, i didn't want to click 100+ websites to look at all embassies.  I thought there might be a site that was tracking them all as a group.  Thanks though.

Resident. TV at most embassies.

I have not come across one website. I did go to DOS and they say to look at each one individually.

Thanks.  I guess as a citizen you can always just go your country and bam you are residing there again.  I get it most people can't travel or move so easily to do it but Russia specifically asked to show she was a citizen and they would then consider the transfer.  But all that doesn't matter if everything is closed.  :(

We will wait a month or so i guess and reevaluate everything.  Korea looks much better everyday.  <fingers crossed>

My case is still in transit. It should have gotten here by now so I am wondering if the status will remain as in transit until the Sydney embassy opens again.

Yes, that is the answer. Status will not change till a human flips the switch to "ready".

Mine is also still in transit to Montreal. Guessing it will stay that way for a bit. I'm sure it's arrived, but no one has processed it.

I just called the NVC to confirm what I believe has already been stated--

At least for Colombia, the NVC is no longer sending applications on to the Embassy until the Embassy signals that they are ready to continue processing.  We received our NVC case number 3/4 and it was not shipped as predicted by the PDF on the two week cycle (every other Tues/Wed).  This is likely true for many other Embassies.

At this point, I just hope that maybe the Colombian Embassy will start working on visas again soon, even if it is before borders open up fully, so that our process continues.  Until then, our visa journey is at a standstill.

I emailed our embassy to check if they extended things in case it does end up lasting longer, which it looks like it will judging by the COVID-19 numbers. I don't expect an answer soon, but I'll post here when they do answer.

Realistically, not all embassies will open at the same time. Those less affected by COVID-19 will begin to return sooner then others.

We are still early on in this process. You couldn't move your file faster before 19 and you certainly will not move it faster after. Tying up the embassy with your emails and phones calls is just a fool-hearted attempt. Keep busy. Put this off your desk. Call a friend on the phone and see how they are doing. Call family and do the same with them.

People, start being realistic. This is something that no one has ever experienced. It's not about you it's about us, we, them, those guys and everyone else.

Ok. I'm done.
