As published in the PDF Times, you will read that it takes about 30 days from the time you are notified from USCIS with your NOA2 to NVC. It takes NVC another 1-3 weeks to assign the case number. Once a case number is assigned, you fall into the shipping schedule, and that could be the following week or somewhere in the three-week window. NVC does not send notice until your case ships and is on it's way to the Embassy. You, any lawyer or anyone else can move your file any faster then the current conditions permit.

During these times, everything is slowing down. You have to understand that priorities are being set, and a yahoo mail is far down the list of "need to do." It's all hands on deck, to get what they have now with the limited staff to keep cases moving.

With the embassies closed down and no interview, what is the RUSH to get a case number? There is very little you can do with it. Sure, complete the DS-160, pay your fee, but that's where you BUCK$$ is going to stop. That's the end of the road.

So set back, stay busy, and, most of all, stay safe. Now I need to turn the page of the PDF Times and get caught back up on the comics section.

Can I do DS160? I only have NOA1 and NOA2. I haven't received any mail from NVC but We tried to email them through yahoomail but no one replied to us.

Of course you can. DS-160 application requires your USCIS receipt number, not your case number. If I am incorrect, please, anyone correct me.

In my opening sentence to your last question I indicated that the "PDF Times" had your answer. I was referring to the PDF on the first page at the first post to this thread. It was kind of a joke. Every question you have asked has been answered there. Please read it. It will only do you good and guide you to the embassy in preparations for your interview.  From the PDF Times -

15. When can the DS-160 be completed?

The DS-160 is a document that stands alone. The DS-160 does not have a fee, and It does not need to be completed now, but after you receive your case number, then you can schedule your interview. This action must be verified with your P3 letter or others from your country. Most embassies require the DS-160 confirmation number to complete the payment of the MRV interview fee.

Case number is needed to complete the DS-160. DS-160 confirmation number is used to complete the interview payment and scheduling portion.

I haven't gotten to complete the photo section, yet. The inital steps requires you to enter USCIS receipt number. Maybe the NVC case number is towards the end.

P.S @Greenbaum For us here who are applying the K1 visa, the procedure is slightly different. The embassy here will assign you an interview slot. You can't choose it, based on the local packet 3 another kind local member shared with me.

Correct. Procedures for each embassy about scheduling their interview can be different from embassy to embassy. Therefore, my statement from the PDF still holds true as I make reference to that fact. "This action must be verified with your P3 letter or others from your country".

is that true NVC offices are closed?

I find the best source for information to what you are asking is to visit the official website, which is what I did. I found NO indication that they are closed. If your information is different then please provide a link for others to follow the news.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

My fiance emailed the NVC because we haven't received anything from them after our approval. Unfortunately, Philippines is 2 months lockdown and we still don't get any reply from NVC after we contacted them. :(

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process

  • "the man with the gold makes the rules" and
  • it will take as long as it will take
  • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
  • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
  • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

Leaving this here, in case anyone else was wondering why they haven't been assigned a case number yet, even though it's long overdue.
