new alphanumeric I-94 number and DS-3035 form filling

Hi everybody,

 

I was trying to fill the online DS 3035 form for a J1 visa waiver and I got an error message when I entered my I-94 number (issued December 2019). Since May 2019, the I-94 includes not only numbers but also one letter but the online form DS 3035 does not accept letters. It is giving me an error message: Number cannot be validated - must contain 11 digits only.

 

Did somebody deal with the same problem?

I sent them email already but I am just worried if I will ever get some response. For that reason, I was trying to find somebody who was in the same situation and filled the DS-3035 with a new format of I-94 number. 

After discussion with the lawyer, they suggested to leave the part with I-94 blank and just include the actual copy of I-94 form to the package.

I am just being careful and seeking more information because I don't want to have my application rejected based on something like this.

I came across the same issue as yours. Did you get any answer from DOS? How did you solve this problem finally? Thank you for reading my response.

Hi,

I just got this response today after more than one month.

 

"We are aware of the issue and are trying to fix it.  In the meantime you can leave that section blank and fill it out before mailing your application in.  Its also helpful to include a copy of your most recent I94 number included in your packet."

I mailed in the application with blank I-94 part in the DS3035 form and included extra explanation of the problem with my I-94 number in the package before they responded to me. I am still waiting for the update in the system that DOS received the application (it was received by them based on the tracking on February 4th).

Thanks for the update. Actually, I'm also facing same problem. I have a question, if you can make me clear please...

1. How did you filled the form DS3035 with keeping blank in the I-94 option? I tried several times and the system is not allowing me to go for the next steps if I-94 is not validating!! resulting, I couldn't get the form to mail them. 

And in the home page they mentioned downloaded form is no longer be accepted! It means we must apply with online filled form (must have bar code and details).

As far as I know, DS3035 form needs to fill online to get bar code and waiver application number.

 

I am humbly looking for your reply to get update.

Hi MDPARVEZ,

 

1. I did not have a problem to fill the online DS3035 form. You can just keep the field with I-94 number blank and it should let you go to the next step. The I-94 number field is not a required field. At least it worked for me like that. Just try again without putting anything at all in that I-94 number field.

2. Regarding the downloaded form. It just mean that you are not allow to download the form in PDF into your computer and then fill that offline, print that and mail that. Because in that case you will not be able to get the bar code with it. Just do what you are already doing - fill the online form DS3035 on the official website. In the last step of the form there will be a button to generate PDF of your form with the bar code  After that you can print this PDF with the bar code and mail it to them with the additional required documents.
