Administrative Processing directly after approval

Hi all,

We just had our interview yesterday at the Manila embassy and we received news that she passed and he would approve her.  He kept her passport and she left.  Now online it says  "Your visa case is undergoing necessary administrative processing."  What we understood is that once she is approved, that's it, and its just a matter of sending the passport to her home.

Has anyone dealt with this?

Verbal "approvals" still require administrative review and processing before official approval.  ....For PI, extended administrative processing is not common...maybe a couple weeks....Watch for the CEAC status to change to "issued".....

Everyone goes to AP.  Even if they simply need time to print and affix a visa to the passport it will go to AP.  As missileman said, the only status that matters is issued.  Could be next day to a couple weeks, so don't fret too much about it.

Your understanding is incorrect. There are instances - albeit quite rare - of the visa being denied as a result of final checks/processing after being told "approved' at the interview.

As others noted, every case goes through some form of AP. This process includes final checks, any possible supervisor review, any possible background checks, etc. ION most cases this is a matter of a couple days to weeks. Rarely it takes months or longer, unless extended background checks get involved.

Keep checking CEAC. It's just a waiting game now. You'll likely see it update sometime between later today and early next week. It may switch to the Non-Immigrant section then back to Immigrant. Since K-1 is a non-immigrant visa, the NIV unit has to process it as well. Then they send it back to the IV unit before it is issued.

Being told "approved" during the interview is not actual approval.   Actual approval isn't until you see your CEAC status showing ISSUED.

There is tracking info near the bottom of this page once your visa is issued.
