Did the phone number change for the American Embassy in Cairo

Does anyone know if the phone number has changed when calling Cairo?

I use to use 0112027973300, but now I get a recording that says that I have to add a 2 before the number that I am dialing. So I add a 2 in front and still can't get through.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I do know they were adding numbers to the phone numbers there. I'm not sure, but I think you have to add the 2 before the rest of the regular number? Maybe someone else can tell you for sure.

Where did you add the 2 to? Woudl it be like 011 20 227973300?

Yes, a lot of land lines now u have to dial a 2 before the number... before the real number so it would be

like 011 202 2 then the number

you can opnly call between 2 and 4 pm egyptian time

and not on friday or saturday

i dont know... DOS gave me a number for the embassy... and when my husband called it... it said tthe number had changed.. but not giving a new one?

The phone number is 01120227972200 for the embassy. I've know it's their phone number as I get the usual recording stuff, but now if I could only get someone to actually pick up the phone that would be a different story.

yeah that is what my husband says.... He calls and NO ONE picks up...

How is that possible>??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
