I've used Olaplex even though I have virgin hair to keep it conditioned. But I think it was wasted on me. I also didn't see much improvement on the frizz front. The Kerastase was the game changer for me. But I know people who swear by Olaplex, so it's probably worth a shot.

Okay my best friend has very fine frizzy hair (so it's got lots of curl, just is so fine that she can use baby elastics)... suggestions?

Let me think about this. If it's very fine, it's really important not to weigh it down with silicones but she needs something for the frizz. I have tamed my frizz but my hair is medium, so I can take a little extra in terms of weight. Heading home shortly and I will have a little think there.

So I checked on an oil which I have used in the past successfully called Ghost Oil by Verb. I only stopped using this because I needed to get a serum in a pinch when I ran out of it unexpectedly, and I ended up really falling in love with the Kristin Ess stuff. Anyway, Ghost Oil is really good -- and it is good for fine hair as well. Plus, from my own experience I know a little goes a very, very long way so a bottle should last a while. And at $18 it won't break the bank. https://www.verbproducts.com/products/ghost-oil

They also sell it at Sephora so it may be possible for your friend to visit one if there's one nearby to get a sample.

OH yes we're going to sephora next weekend.  I'm outta foundation and my face keeps breaking out... She's in love with samples. LMAO

I get the sample love -- I always walk away with samples of perfumes that I cannot bring myself to commit to an entire bottle of because they (1) sound interesting, but I also get bored with many scents after a while and (2) are so expensive that I can't fathom why I should pay $600+ (literally -- I'm looking at you, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille) for a chance to smell a particular way.

If you're breaking out, you could consider the Herbivore Blue Tansy mask. I found this really works for me. Of course, YMMV! This is it: https://www.herbivorebotanicals.com/products/blue-tansy-mask

If anyone wants to try Olaplex No. 3, and is already ordering $35 worth of stuff from Sephora, there's a code for two trial sizes of the product: HAIRREPAIR

Looking for a new blush if anyone has any recommendations. I always come back to NARS Orgasm in the Multiple and in the powder form, but I want something a little more peachy. Any ideas? I've used a couple of the tarte stick ones in the past, but got sick of the formulation for reasons I can't even remember.

Just wondered what people's view on Erykah Badu's new incense is?

I hadn't heard she had a new one. We were at Whole Foods this weekend and I lost Alex in there for a little bit while I was at the meat counter. When I found him, he was inspecting the selection of incense that they had for sale (no Erykah Badu). Mostly ones that had names like "Los Angeles Breeze" (smelled of almost nothing) and were supposed to be "modern" incense. He insisted on buying Nag Champa and has been burning it every night since Sunday because it reminds him of when we were first going out when we were young and we burned it while cuddling up and listening to Belle & Sebastian and "putting the world to rights" (as he puts it). ❤️ Very sweet of him.

LOL! I have had mixed experiences with bare minerals, but have never tried their blushes. I will investigate!

2% salicylic acid prepared in 70%etOH. but 70% etOH on its own is good because it dries out the skin.

Thanks for this. What are the proportions of the acid to the etOH?

I'm pretty sure it was 1g salicylic acid into 50mL of 70% etOH to make a 50mL stock. For the 70% etOH: 35mL of etOH into 15mL of distilled water.

Still we rise, here and now

I thought this was the Beauty Thread not the Chemistry Thread.
