New(-ish) product alert! I purchased a bottle of Haus Labs' (Lady Gaga's makeup line) Triclone Skin Tech foundation last week out of pure curiosity. https://www.hauslabs.com/products/triclone-skin-tech-medium-coverage-foundation?variant=39969811660888

I was particularly interested because it has arnica, which is supposed to even out rosacea and red marks, and the shade range is very wide, 51 tones. It's also "clean" -- free from all sorts of nasty ingredients -- and vegan. Totally blown away. Not only is it very lightweight, I needed very little to look evened out without looking cakey or overdone. Wear is exceptional -- 10 hours on Friday with no fading after a light dusting of setting powder. My only complaint is that I think I need a tone lighter than what I selected (I chose 220, Light Medium With Rosy Peach Undertones, which is apparently the same as Lady Gaga's). I may return it to Sephora for a better match.

Beauty bump!

I was at CVS yesterday with my husband to buy yet more Dayquil since I forgot to take mine before we left home. The one we go to regularly is a very large one, with an expanded makeup section with some indie beauty lines, so I decided to nose around for some body moisturizer as I am nearly out. For some reason, although I could find some good makeup (including my friend's company's makeup line, Kimchi Chic!) the bath and body products were lacking. My husband asked me if he could help, and I said, "Yes, I'm looking for some body moisturizer, but more luxe."

"Luxe?" He looked very confused. "What does that mean in this particular context?"

"Like, indulgent. Rich. Makes me feel like I'm having a special treat every time I use it. I don't think CVS is where I'm going to find it."

"But they have so much [bleep] here!" (This was said with a sweep of his arms, as if all the bounty of America were available at this random CVS in Santa Monica.)

"Ye-essss, but luxury beauty isn't their thing. I guess I was asking for too much to find something really special."

He looked even more confused, then glanced at the shelf beside him and selected a tube of moisturizer, which he pushed in my hand. "What about this?"

After I stopped laughing, I had to explain that Eucerin Eczema Relief is indeed a great product, but it is definitely not luxe.

Posted

Lol.  My husband would probably say that Dr. Bronner's liquid soap is luxe.  Yeah, no joke, it's better than Dial soap lol.

CVS pick of body moisturizer... I think I would go with La Roche Posay?  There's a line of Eucerin products I get when I'm overseas, because it works, and the texture is nice.  The Urea feet, and hand, creams.

I wore makeup for the first time in forever today.  Family reunion and wanted to not look February-in-New-England grey.  I need to find a way to escape to the beach somewhere.

So, what's your ultimate luxe body moisturizer?

What's the obsession with hotel towels?  Were you in the military TboneTx?  I'm trying to pinpoint where it's coming from...

Face serums are a must. I have two day ones I use right now -- my everyday is this one from Innisfree: https://us.innisfree.com/products/green-tea-hyaluronic-acid-serum Just a great all rounder, so light and calms my rosacea. When I need a little more, I go for the Ordinary's Niacinamide/Zinc serum mixed in with the green tea one: https://theordinary.com/en-us/niacinamide-10-zinc-1-serum-100436.html

Nighttime I use the Ordinary Niacinamide/Zinc before my night cream.

Oh, I have a small Eau relaxante body moisturizer in my travel kit. Smells so good.

I like this oil

https://www.albabotanica.com/products-alba/hawaiian-body-oil/

It goes on sale under $10 at Whole foods.  It smells great, absorb fast, works well.  I like it much better than the Nuxe one.  There used to be one from Bourjois, in spray, with light shimmer.  It was the best, but it's been discontinued :(

I'll look at Kate McLeod products, thanks.

@beloved_dingo+1 for The Ordinary products.  I have the zinc niamicide also, but my favourite from them is The Buffet.
