Ewe?

Supposed to be very good for the skin, sacrifices sometimes have to be made.

I think I am supposed to have watched the Bachelor, it is recorded... Was in the Brewpub and they were not showing it.

Beauty and grooming is a hobby. If I were into, say, woodworking and talked on and on about all the money I poured into this project or that one, all the delicate work, all the difficulties I faced and the solutions I came up with, I suspect nobody would think it was frippery.

I am not so dumb to be goaded into a TOS violation by saying you don't have to read this thread. :) But it is a little insulting to read people writing about how your hobby is strange or odd or is a waste of money or whatever. I mean, I haven't posted any comments about your hobbies, have I? :P (By the way, if your hobby gives you a lot of satisfaction, that's the most important thing.)

I like to think of this as a positive little corner where fellow hobbyists can share their interests and finds. Like Suave men's body wash.

I don't see anything wrong with sharing your interests or hobbies, hobbies are great, they allow use our imagination and be creative, Trying new and different things for the best result possible, And we feel a sense of pride and accomplishment in the end as well.  I had a hobby when I was 13, it was Woodworking and I turned it into a lifelong career, building custom cabinets and remodeling Kitchens, I sill love doing it, + I make good money + its extremely rewarding. :)

As for the beauty part, I want to ask;  Why do some Women think it's attractive to remove their natural eyebrows and use a brow pencil to create new ones? As a guy,  I absolutely hate the look and I know I'm not alone, I like a little makeup on Women, but some take it to the extreme, looking almost clownish... I remember my 5th grade Art Teacher telling us, If you keep trying to improve your painted artwork, you will make it look worse, I think the same applies to makeup.

So ... a few things.

Eyebrows! Good question. Sometimes people can get a little.... overzealous with plucking, or waxing, or threading. As you get older, the brow hairs just don't grow back. So you're stuck with few brows or no brows. Some people hate the shape of their brows even though they have a normalish amount of brows, and they go overboard. I hate the look too! I had one dumb plucking experiment in 2003 when I was 18 and lesson learned. I was young enough that they all grew back, and since then it is just stray hairs that get plucked. I do not use a pencil for the most part -- I use a tinted brow gel that is very natural looking. Mostly it's there just to keep them looking tidy -- the tint is light.

OTT painting -- depends. Sometimes it's artistic expression, and sometimes it's cluelessness. There is a difference. If it looks a little way out but very neat, it's avant garde. If it looks like a mess... you need an online lesson with a makeup artist. I have spent years messing around with makeup for fun, and believe it or not, I usually look like I'm wearing little to none. I have fun right now with eyeshadows and eyeliners because of masks, but only when I feel like a bit of a pick me up or I'm bored and need to feel like a girl again, not a slob!

When the subject of eyebrows came up, I just had to comment. Another reformed overplucker here. Fortunately, I was young enough that my normal brows grew back. Today I'm satisfied with just plucking away the obvious ones that stray on my eyelids. Otherwise, I leave them well enough alone.

The early 2000s were a really, really bad time in the US for overplucked brows. I do not know what possessed me except... 18 years old.

You realise now that the Mathematicians on here can work out your age?

Anyway I find if they get straggly a quick zap with the beard trimmer at an appropriate setting does the trick, do not want it on too low a setting, have also used this to take off loose ones

You guys are lucky that you have eyebrows to pluck. I basically have almost non-existent eyebrows...they're like patchy and bald, and half platinum blonde/half dark blonde, which is weird because my hair is a much darker blonde/light brown and I have an incredibly thick head of hair, so it makes no sense. I think in most photos of myself, it just looks like I don't have eyebrows at all, or just like "ghost eyebrows" that you'll only notice if you look hard. There's really no fix for it except penciling in, which I don't like either.....I'm just at peace with looking weird these days. :D

Have you thought about some of the eyebrow growth serums? I have a friend who swears by RevitaLash. She has coloring similar to yours it sounds like, and her brows were patchy. They're now pretty normalish. Not thick and bushy but just much more present. https://www.revitalash.com/products/revitabrow-advanced-eyebrow-conditioner?variant=12338628624427

But of course if you are at peace with it, rock on with your less-brow-y self. :) Beauty is all about embracing what you have.

I never knew about that...whoa. Might be worth trying!

I think in certain lighting conditions, you can see my eyebrows better than others...right now they're looking kind of ok, but especially in bright sun it's hard to see, or from certain angles. The weirdest part is that from certain angles because of how the light hits, it may look like I only have 1 very pale eyebrow, or 1.5 eyebrows, lol. I've actually looked up close at the extremely platinum eyebrow hairs and they are basically iridescent (like a fiber optic cable) if you hold it up to the light, it's so crazy.

I've always been jealous of people with full eyebrows because you can at least have options with shapes/sizes, whereas I'm so limited! I might try the serum.
