This Huda palette is amazing. And the tarte contouring is pretty good. I think a liquid contour would work better for my dry skin but I like the variety of colors.

I cannot get enough of the Huda eyeshadows! Every combination I've tried has worked so well together, everything blends beautifully. I think I like it more than the Naked Cherry.

Sephora 2021 birthday gifts are... meh. https://www.sephora.com/beauty/birthday-gift

My birthday is in May, and I guess I'll go for the NARS. The Laneige lip mask is great, but the sleeping mask made me break out a couple of years ago. I use Moroccanoil on my hair anyway, and I'm convinced it's actually drying my hair out. I already use Kerastase, and that formulation is meh on my hair. NARS it is -- I have the lip balm in another color and I love it, and I've never tried one of their bronzers.

Is there a shampoo and/or conditioner that would REALLY make one's hair smooth?

This is the holy grail, isn't it?!? 🙏

I recently started using Liquid Glass conditioner for my once or twice weekly light condition. It's not too bad! I currently use it with Oribe Gold Lust shampoo, which I'm a little underwhelmed by considering the price. When I am done with it, I am going to buy the Liquid Glass shampoo and see if that helps me achieve smoother hair.

For a weekly masque, the Kerastase Discipline really does fight frizz. https://www.sephora.com/product/discipline-smoothing-mask-P434416?icid2=similar products:p434416:product

Best thing to do is cut down on shampooing (no more than 3x max a week), use a microfiber towel and get a serum/heat protectant/whatever that you like. I am going back to the Verb Ghost Oil after messing around with the Moroccanoil for a few months and discovering I actually hate it. But I bought a huge bottle so I will finish it. https://www.sephora.com/product/verb-ghost-weightless-hair-oil-P399992?skuId=1728351&icid2=products grid:p399992:product

Thanks @laylalex! I came to the right place! 😅 I have to find those products here in the Philippines! Sephora.ph only has the Verb Ghost Oil (yay!) but not the Kerastase mask. And sadly, we don't have Ulta here. But I think we have something that might carry Liquid Glass and Kerastase. Thanks again!

  • 2 weeks later...

I have finally cracked the smooth hair code. Finally! We'll see how long it works. :P Links at the end.

I have been using the Drybar Liquid Glass conditioner for a month or two, and was fairly impressed. I was washing with Oribe Gold Lust shampoo and conditioning with the Liquid Glass twice a week, and once a week doing a Kerastase Discipline smoothing mask. I generally used Moroccanoil hair oil as a heat protectant, and dried my hair after letting it dry naturally for at least 20 minutes, usually longer. Occasionally I would pass a heated brush through it. I was fine with this, but it wasn't really doing it for me.

So I mixed it up. I bought the Liquid Glass shampoo AND the matching Liquid Glass Sealant, and I also did something I swore I would never do again: I started using a flat iron. I decided in for a penny, in for a pound, so I bought the GHD max styler which is NOT cheap but will last a long time. GHD never disappoint with their hair tools, and I got the max version because my hair is now so long (about to be able to sit on it).

I started with an Olaplex No. 3 treatment and left it on my damp hair for 5 hours. Yep! I twisted my hair up in a clip and it pretty much dried the Olaplex in there while I did chores, read, etc. Rinsed it out, followed by the Liquid Glass shampoo/conditioner combo. After wrapping my hair up in a microfiber towel for 15 minutes, I let it down, sectioned my hair off, and sprayed the sections generously with the sealant and combed it through. I let my hair dry naturally for another 20 minutes and then did a blow dry, not a blowout, with a paddle brush. My hair was pretty smooth by this point, but there were some poofy bits still. So I ran the iron through my hair section by section -- took me all of 8 minutes, if that -- and at the end... glassy, glossy, silky perfection. My hair looked and felt smooth and conditioned. Amazing!

Now this was a lot of time because I did the Olaplex for so long, and I only see myself doing it on Sundays. But the three step Liquid Glass regime is as long as my usual time for washing/drying my hair, and the iron adds on less than 10 minutes. The results are supposed to last through 3 washes, so we shall see! I asked my husband what he thought and he said, yeah, you look great as always. Well, I think I look great and that's what counts, right?

Beauty and grooming is a hobby. If I were into, say, woodworking and talked on and on about all the money I poured into this project or that one, all the delicate work, all the difficulties I faced and the solutions I came up with, I suspect nobody would think it was frippery.

I am not so dumb to be goaded into a TOS violation by saying you don't have to read this thread. :) But it is a little insulting to read people writing about how your hobby is strange or odd or is a waste of money or whatever. I mean, I haven't posted any comments about your hobbies, have I? :P (By the way, if your hobby gives you a lot of satisfaction, that's the most important thing.)

I like to think of this as a positive little corner where fellow hobbyists can share their interests and finds. Like Suave men's body wash.

I let it wash over me. Like the gallons of spring water pumped from artesian wells into handblown bottles I employ a servant to use to rinse my hair. :P

Kidding. I have a shower head like everyone else.

Ew. I once found a little tub thingy full of half and half that Alex had brought home from the office (WHY?) at the bottom of his gym bag, in the zippered section at the bottom which is ostensibly for dirty clothes. I had no idea what was in there because the tub was opaque and when I opened it up 🤮 One small mercy of lockdown is that there are no gym bags at the moment.
