Brad mondo has a tutorial online for cutting your own hair, complete with layering if you want.

Yes, I watched it the other week and it's really helpful. I am just about at breaking point now with how long it is. My fiance said he thinks it looks great, let it grow, see how long it gets, etc. but he doesn't have to live with it.

I stocked up on a bunch of Sephora brand masks out of curiosity this week -- they're all pretty cheap. I got two different nourishing hand masks -- basically plastic gloves coated on the inside with some sort of cream. You put them on and wait ten minutes and supposedly, voila! I was unimpressed. My hands don't feel much smoother than when I use the Eucerin. At least it was only $4 or something.

I also bought a sleeping mask for my hair which I am going to try tonight. Basically, you glop the mask on your dry hair and then put on what is basically a shower cap. Wash it out in the morning. Sunday is usually my deep conditioning day for my hair, so I'll see what happens!

One point that All Men Know and that few, if any, women can understand or follow:  When it comes to female hair, grow it long and straight and never ever mess with that for any reason*.

     *because there is no reason

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Because you don't have to walk around with all that hair pulling at your head and hurting your neck.

A tip for @Jsg2016 who was asking about lip masks last month -- I got a deluxe sample of the La Neige lip sleeping mask and it is fantastic. The maskne I had cleared up from treatment, but the treatment dried out my lips. :( So when I ordered a couple of cheapie hand masks from Sephora this week, I got the La Neige. Quite thick and a bit gloopy, but in the morning, all the rough patches were gone and my lips looked plumper.

This is the one (I got it in berry): https://us.laneige.com/products/lip-sleeping-mask

Thanks! I’ll have to get a Sephora sample of it. $22 isn’t that bad of a price compared to other beauty products.

It’s the worst when it’s long and hair is tied up. All that weight now at one spot.

I added the Gummy Bear one to my Sephora cart -- it's sold out on the La Neige website. I've been applying it for four nights and my lips are completely rehabbed now.

Both of these things! The worst for me has been at night, getting it tied up so I don't wake up tied up in it, lol. I bought a three pack of 100% silk scrunchies for this purpose -- they never tangle in my hair, and silk is one of the best fabrics for your hair because it will never snarl in it. No snarls = no frizz in the morning, and I am on a frizz-eradication journey. And in the day they're light and never pull at your scalp. My mom had insisted that those sproingy hair bobbles were the key (like these: https://www.ulta.com/original-traceless-hair-ring?productId=xlsImpprod13221269), that they didn't leave a kink in your hair and didn't pull, but no. I actually had to cut one out of my hair.

I've had the sleeping mask on my head for about 8 hours now, and I'm going to wash it out soon. Let's see what it does. Oh, and I fell into a deep, deep Brad Mondo video hole last night, @NikLR. I love him. I hadn't caught the one on him watching people give themselves mullets and it's hilarious.

Mini-Dave likes to pull Anastasia's hair, which would be a good enough reason for me ... 🤣

Oh children love to have a chunk of your hair.  When my kiddo was about 1, I did a pixie cut for several years. LOL

OMG this frizz-fighting hair sleeping mask

I followed the directions to a T, working the cream through my hair and focusing on the ends. I piled it up under the sleeping cap and let it sit on my hair for about 9 hours. The instructions say, you may need to use some shampoo, but I didn't. I thought I'd like to see what happens without. Rinsed for over three minutes in cool water, wrapped in a microfiber towel for 20 minutes to get the excess water out. Then I let it air dry for half an hour before putting some heat protectant in. So far, so good, though my hair smelled kind of weird. Do you know what Nair smells like? It smelled like Nair but none of my hair fell out (thankfully).

I rough dry the hair with the smoothing nozzle on my hair dryer, medium heat, low speed. Five minutes later, it's like I haven't been using the dryer at all. My hair still feels wet. Weird. I brush through it, and it becomes quickly apparent to me that despite all the rinsing, my hair still has conditioning creme in it because it feels greasy af. I try drying with the diffuser attachment, and nope. I eventually gave up and stuck it in a high ponytail. I'll wash it out properly before bedtime.

On the other hand, no frizz!

I remember that god awful distinct smell from about 20 years ago. I’m not sure if Nair is still around and in stores, but if it is, I sure hope they invented a new formula that smells a bit better! At least your hair isn’t frizzy lol.

Yeah, Nair was the first thing I used when I started removing leg hair as a teenager. My mom wasn't sure if she could trust me around a razor, lol. I eventually got the hang of razors and then my sister started dragging me to get stuff waxed instead when I was 16. Until COVID19 I regularly went for waxing but we are back to razors now, since I can't be trusted around hot wax on my own.

A little googling reveals Nair is still around but smells a bit better. But that smell is still in my head from when I was 13!

I razor the legs and wax the rest.  I can't be bothered to let the leg hair grow that long to wax more often than not.

Mine is quite fair, so I can get away with it if I feel I have to go barelegged. But mostly I just wear jeans/pants until waxing time. I tried sugaring at home but I could never get it quite right.

How are the new brushes? I just bought a big bottle of the Cinema Secrets brush cleanser and I've been maniacally cleaning every single brush I have.

I had laser hair removal done because I always had ingrown hairs and razor burn. I only have to shave every so often now. Still need a few more sessions before the hair is all the way gone for good.
