Thanks, that would be awesome!

Just to give a bit of background - in the UK, I wore a regular SPF moisturizer (non-tinted) and then used a Bare Minerals powder foundation- and then the mineral veil powder on top...problem I found was, when I was here a few years ago over summer, I'd end up with a sweaty face where my sunglasses rested...and makeup would end up smearing there, which a) looks rubbish and b) makes me worry about my pores getting clogged. I'd also get drier skin than in the UK, which is down to the air con, but powder probably doesn't help.

I thought that may be down to using a double powder, which is what made me think an SPF BB cream and just mineral veil might work better (I say I thought that, a friend suggested it, but I'm cool with taking the credit 😂).

Basically, I want a coverage that's natural-looking, but is less likely to smear and block my pores. And has SBF. And won't make me greasy. Or dry. Or not vegan. Or a bloke.

I think at some point I need to talk to my wedding makeup artist, cause my makeup was still immaculate 12 hours after she did it...and I danced and partied HARD for at least 5 of those hours. I'm guessing there was some sort of finishing spray (and witchcraft) involved.

Thank you for the additional details! I will be back later with some ideas for BB and powder, but here are a couple ideas for keeping makeup where it is supposed to be: primer AND finishing spray. Primers are for oily people a necessity, in my opinion. I have my favorites, but not every type will work with every type of foundation/BB/CC cream. You have to match the primer to the color product. So when I make the recommendations, I will throw in some ideas for primers too. :)

But for setting spray I can HIGHLY recommend this: https://www.urbandecay.com/de-slick-oil-control-makeup-spray-by-urban-decay/ud804.html?cgid=setting-spray-1#start=4&cgid=setting-spray-1 It is vegan and all Urban Decay products are cruelty free, and the company does not allow others to test on animals on their behalf. De-Slick is sold out on their website but you can probably get it at Ulta or Sephora. All-Nighter is fantastic too, but it you need serious lock down, do not move, no oil, De-Slick is it. I also like tarte stuff and almost all of their stuff is vegan, and all of it is cruelty-free.

For powder, I like KVD Lock-it setting powder (all KVD products are vegan and cruelty-free).

Okay, thinking cap on!!!

Don't know how LA compares to where you were from, but extrapolating from 1 week as a tourist in London in late summer 2016 vs normal life in San Diego, coastal SoCal is much drier than the UK (you wouldn't think that being right on the Pacific, but it is).

Oh yeah, it's considerably drier here outside as well, which doesn't help - in combo with the air con, I'm surprised I've not developed full leprosy.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention! I use Bare Minerals mattifying primer...well, when I remember to...but I've never used a setting spray...maybe that's the missing link?

Heard lots of good stuff about Kat von D products 🙃...and Urban Decay used to be great - I stopped wearing them a few years ago, when they started selling in China, which meant they had to be tested on animals by a third party company - however, after a lot of people kicked off, they stopped, so they're back on the ok list, so I guess I should look at their current products further 🙃.

I have suggestions! So KVD (which is now KVD Beauty because Kat herself walked late last year -- still all vegan and cruelty free) is one way to go, but you know with her, it's WHAM a full face o' slap! I myself am wearing a full face o' slap today because... I was bored. :D

tarte makes such wonderful products, and I was going to recommend their Amazonian Clay BB cream (here: https://tartecosmetics.com/en_US/makeup/face/bb-cc/amazonian-clay-bb-tinted-moisturizer-broad-spectrum-spf-20/24.html) but maybe they are phasing it out? Looks like some shades are harder to find than others. Anyway, I have used this and it is GOOD. It is buildable and is fine for oily skin. There is also this, which also looks great for oily skin and has a built in primer: https://tartecosmetics.com/en_US/makeup/face/bb-cc/bb-tinted-treatment-primer-broad-spectrum-spf-30/373.html

An out of the box thought is Glossier Skin Tint: https://www.glossier.com/products/perfecting-skin-tint A little less coverage but very, very buildable. A good friend of mine swears by it, and she also uses their Stretch Concealer for more coverage when needed. I use their Boy Brow on my brows because I don't like an overly manicured (ummmm, can you say "manicured" about brows??) brow look. I.e., I do not want to look like I used a stencil and sprayed them on!

Supergoop, besides making fantastic sunblock for your face, also make this which I had a trial size of at some point and which I double checked was vegan and cruelty free: https://supergoop.com/products/daily-correct-cc-cream I liked it!

Setting spray will make everything stay in place! If you don't feel comfortable using UD, tarte has one I have used that I like as well: https://tartecosmetics.com/shop/makeup/face/prime-set/rainforest-of-the-sea-4-in-1-mist/769.html

The Bare Minerals mattifying primer is good stuff!!!

Ordered IT cosmetics CC cream.  Colour looks far too yellow.  Find open sephora, take it back.  Was suggested NARS when inquiring about full coverage. Get home not full coverage. Definitely no more than my make up forever.  So it's going back. Kinda annoyed. Dude I want full coverage because masks and the sun are just going to town on my face.  I have age spots, red spots, redness, and a tan. I don't want 3 layers of foundation on my dry skin. I dont want 2 layers.  I want 1 layer!

However I purchased mineral oil from murad. Im waiting for my face to adjust but it seems alright.

Purchased large bottle of living proof dry shampoo. Worth the $$$ IMO!

Also still liking benefits primer!  Right now I dont bother with full face for work because of the mask. I just use the primer to help protect my skin and concealer where appropriate. I have a hydrating one now so I'm testing that one and their curling mascara. I think I'll eventually go back to my MAC mascara but I like the mini sizes.  I never use them up before the expiration and if I dont chuck them, my eyes start to water.

Oh i used an amika test set with my points.  There was a cleansing oil (?!) and then jelly exfoliating shampoo.  I dunno if the shampoo really did anything but the cleansing oil was amazing! Even with bi-weekly clarifying shampoo I get build up on my scalp. (Like dead skin under your nails if you scratch.) But I used this almost  week ago and nothing! Im using ogx charcoal shampoo & cond right now too, but Im 99% sure it was the oil. My hair isnt soft and doenst feel particularly great.  I am having to blow dry after showers due to the chin bob I have. Any suggestions of heat protection or straight hair shampoo & cond that doesnt smell like a salon is welcome!

I have full coverage recommendations if you like. :) You know I've tried just about everything by now.

My skin is cool with a pink tinge obviously. Make up forever R250 is my winter shade. I really like it then, when i dont have much skin variance and it doesnt need much. I have dry skin traditionally. Dont care much on the cost, just needs to be under $65 preferably

Okay, I have what I need now. You're in Colorado too, so that means also taking that dry air into account as well, and probably you'll need an SPF out there as well. I have some ideas but I want to double check formulations. I will be back -- I love doing these! :D

Well Colorado does vary and people vary, I do not usually have an issue with dry lips but many do. You certainly need to keep hydrated. There are a few beers I could recommend including one I have on tap.

Okay I want to hear about the beers. :D

I guess I am assuming that Colorado air is drier than it is out here by the ocean, so I will wait for Nik to comment on that. But if she has dry skin, that's the most important point along with the shade she needs. I am a little paler but not much.

Okay then -- we should start a beer thread because I am trying to be better about not going off topic. Even in off topic.

I use spf in my day moisturizer if I will be outside at all.  I dont bother if inside all day.

Late start here but I have begun my research for the day. :)

Some initial ideas (I need to check a few more):

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk is one of those holy grail foundations that everyone loves. I have tried it and it didn't work for me, really because I couldn't find a good color match. BUT it is considered one of the very best out there. Glowy with medium coverage that is buildable, and doesn't settle in lines/pores. Juuuuust comes in under your budget by a whole dollar! https://www.giorgioarmanibeauty-usa.com/makeup/foundation/liquid-foundation/luminous-silk-foundation/A041.html

Lancome Teinte Idole: the shade range in this is amazing, 50 colors. Lancome is also a brand that is easy to find just about everywhere and this is a bestseller, so you know it's not going to be discontinued anytime soon. I had a MUFE tinted moisturizer that I loved and then they reformulated and it sucked. (MUFE is terrible for this, by the way.) Also medium to full buildable, and this stuff is (from what I have read) not going anywhere -- ultra long wear. https://www.lancome-usa.com/makeup/face/foundation/teint-idole-ultra-24h-long-wear-foundation/1000554.html

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation: this is in my current rotation and I love it. It is suitable for all skin types, and it gives a beautiful lit from within glow. I'd say the coverage was medium and buildable. It works well with my primer (I use a YSL mattifying one at the moment, stole a recommendation for that from someone on here in another post) and stays in place. I love pretty much everything I've ever bought from Charlotte Tilbury and confession -- I bought more from her yesterday after thinking about the foundation recommendations.  Use the shade finder to find a good match. https://www.charlottetilbury.com/us/product/magic-foundation-shade-5

Speaking of Charlotte Tilbury, when I bought more foundation yesterday, I bought her Airbrush Flawless Longwear formulation. This is the big guns -- for full coverage without sacrificing the glow, which is often a problem with longwear. It is also good for all skin types. I will be able to give a full review on Tuesday or Wednesday depending on when it arrives. But in the meantime, here's the link: https://www.charlottetilbury.com/us/product/airbrush-flawless-foundation-shade-5-neutral

Last one, tarte Face Tape: another one I haven't tried, but I like tarte products in general. Returns are also super easy. This one is another that people mention as a holy grail foundation again and again and the shade range is awesome. https://tartecosmetics.com/shop/makeup/face/foundation/face-tape-foundation/1600.html?dwvar_1600_color=light-medium&cgid=

I have some more ideas but I am being told to dry my hair so we can go get lunch. :D
